Arod for Weaver, Molina and Moseley is a bad deal for the Yanks. Arod may get booed but hes worth more than a rookie starter with a bit of success, a scrap heap back up catcher and a Darrell Rasner type arm.

If the Angels had Arod how would they react to an offer of Wang, Nieves and Rasner, they'd have a good laugh Im sure.

Joseph, the Yanks would get no draft compensation if Arod signs elsewhere. Boras put that in his contract just like he did for Drew. It's more encouraging for other teams to sign him (hence a bidding war) knowing they won't even lose a draft pick for it.

I have a few reasons why i wouldnt make this trade

1. Angels do good enough against us without Alex
2. We wont have any right handed power which well make are lineup completley vunerable to Lefties
3. Weaver has injury peoblems right now, and we saw what his brother couldnt do in the pinstripes, who knows what jared well do
4. Moseley cant even pitch in AAA whats he gunna do in the majors
5. And finnaly Alex is probably the best hitter in the game right now, why trade him?

You know, I don't think I've officially been voted onto the Island as of yet. Not that I mind- there are more entertaining places to visit on the mainland.

I have no interest in this at all. Moseley and Molina have little to no value to us (we dont need more back end starters we have those already). So this deal comes down to A-Rod for Weaver. On that team Weaver isnt even the pitcher id most want. To me he is just an injury waiting to happen. He throws way too much across his body. On top of that he is only a mid rotation starter to me.

As for the Dodgers speculation I would do that right now, and I dont like most A-Rod trade ideas. Broxton would become our second best reliever. Loney is better than any of our first base options, and LaRoche will be a very good third baseman as soon as next year.

The LAD deal is around various blogs, so I'm sure it's just fan specualtion, just not mine.

I'm not down with the Angels deal at all. Dustin Moseley is a junkball lefty, Jose Molina is a backup at best, and who knows what's up with Jered's injury. Besides, the Yanks have at least 5 better pitchers in the minors, 3 of which are in the upper minors.

Thanks for that, John. I'm glad the first "I'd do this deal" comes from someone as reasonable as you (or, should I say, as a member of the Island of Reason and Logic).

While not giving much reason for it, Jayson Stark puts the A-Rod trade in the "not happening" category in his most recent column. No offense to Halo Heaven, but I'm inclined to believe Stark.

I would pull the trigger on the Angels deal. Here's why:
I like the wait and see on the boo-birds
I think Jered is the real deal.
I'm sure Arod is going to opt out of his deal and then it'll cost the Yankees $30 million to keep him.
Pitching is worth more than hitting.
Jered Weaver for 4 years of arbitration > Arod (maybe) for $30 million.
Cash would need to have a secondary deal lined up for a 3B but-
Damon, Jeter, Abreu, Giambi, Posada, Matsui, Cano, 3B, Phelps
Is still more than enough to win a championship.
