Are you as psyched as me to see how the greatest lineup he’s ever faced treats Dice-K tonight?

Update: The Yanks have promoted RHP Eric Hacker to High-A Tampa from Low-A Charleston (surprising to me since Hacker missed 2006 with arm troubles). This is purely speculation on my part, but I think we may be seeing a certain 6′-9″ manchild take the hill for the River Dogs this week…

Triple-A Scranton (4-3 loss to Ottawa)
Kevin Reese: 1 for 3, 1 BB
Alberto Gonzalez: 0 for 4, 1 RBI, 1 K
Bronson Sardinha: 0 for 3, 1 BB, 3 K, 1 SB - geez, couldn’t even put the ball in play???
Shelley Duncan:  1 for 3, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 BB
Andrew Beattie: 2 for 4, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI
Ben Kozlowski: 2.1 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 1 Balk – got the start because Friday’s doubleheader threw the regular rotation out of whack…
Ron Villone: 3.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 6-3 GB/FB – has pitched on 4 of the last 5 days, I guess Torre’s managing this team too…
TJ Beam: 2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 B, 1 K – his stock is pretty low right now…

Double-A Scranton (7-4 win over Binghamton)
Brett Gardner: 0 for 3, 1 BB – .204-.295-.352-.647, ugh…
Ramiro Pena: 1 for 4, 1 R, 1 3B
Cody Ehlers: 1 for 4, 1 R, 1 RBI – 6H, 4 RBI, 2 K in last 5 games
PJ Pilittere: 2 for 4, 1 R, 1 3B, 1 RBI, 1 PB – catcher ripping a triple…nice
Justin Christian: 2 for 4, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 SB
Matt Carson: 2 for 4, 1 R, 2 RBI
Jason Jones: 5 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 9-2 GB/FB – 4.33 GB/FB ratio this year…
Phil Thorp: 2.1 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
Gerardo Casadiego: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K

High-A Tampa had a scheduled off day.

Low-A Charleston (4-2 win over Savannah)
Mitch Hilligoss: 1 for 4, 1 R, 1 E (throwing) – error total up to 8 in 18 games
Chris Malec: 2 for 4, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 E (fielding)
Seth Fortenberry: 1 for 3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Brian Baisley: 2 for 3, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Josue Calzado: 0 for 3, 1 RBI, 1 K – threw a runner out at home from RF
Jose Gil: 2 for 4, 1 2B
Grant Duff: 7 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 1 WP, 1 HB, 12-7 GB/FB
Jon Hovis: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K – oh snap, 7.1 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 10 K, 3 saves this year

Re: Cain. I think the better story in this game is Petit, or more accurately, how Florida was dumb enough to trade him for Jorge Julio. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

It seems like there’s an emphasis being placed on groundballs in the Yankees system. Which would make the Jackson and Ohlendorf acquisitions make even more sense.

Five Things I Learned from this Weekend Series against Boston Redsox

    1) Lhp Specialist Hideki Okajima was used By Francona as Boston closer when Papelbon isn’t available in big spot against Yankees lineup.
    Abreu, Giambi ,Arod and Cano

Next Time when Yankees faced Okajima, and Francona will used him as Redsox closer when Papelbon isn’t available and ready to pitch

2)Boston Redsox also likes to play small ball as their part of their offense. Back to Back Bunts from Coco Crisp and Joey Cora off Jeff Karstens .The slowed reaction from Karstens and fielding the groundball from Crisp and Cora. It seems Karstens was clueless which base to throw to

3)The Bullpen Management by Joe and his ingame strategy still question mark. He replaced Giambi’s bat and pinched run for Kevin Thompson. Joe made a mistake By putting Mariano in 8th rather than sticking with Proctor or calling Bruney or Farnsworth from the pen. Never Trust Mike Myers in big spot against his former team especially Big Papi. Myers who gave up double to Ortiz. I have more faith than Sean henn and Mike Myers.

    4) Jason Giambi’s still looking at that pitched down away and 0 homeruns against the Redsox. Giambi’s still clueless at the plate, The thing I noticed Redsox pitchers are pitching him down away.

    5) The Yankees Offense did their part scoring runs against Schilling and Beckett in this series. Lastly, Doug Mienkrap are batting .128 so far this season.

Please stop posting off-topic replies in the comments. There are plenty of threads on the main page about the Red Sox/Yankees. Post your stuff in there. We’re really getting sick of it here.
