Down on the Farm

By

I made a pretty substantial error in yesterday’s Down on the Farm: I wasn’t paying full attention to the Double-A box score, and jumped the gun thinking Trenton lost the game after the top of the 9th because they were on the road. In fact, Trenton was home, and they rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th, and eventually won in 12. My bad, here’s the box score.

On to tonight’s action:

Triple-A Scranton (4-3 loss to Richmond)
Bronson Sardinha: 2 for 5, 1 2B, 1 RBI – signs of life…
Eric Duncan: 0 for 5, 3 K – coming back to Earth I see…
Shelley Duncan: 3 for 3, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 CS
Steven Jackson: 5 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 10-0 GB/FB - just when you thought that deal couldn’t get any better…
TJ Beam: 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 1 E (pickoff)

Double-A Trenton (5-4 win over Harrisburg in 12 innings)
Brett Gardner: 0 for 3, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 SB, 1 CS
Cody Ehlers: 0 for 5, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 2 E (fielding, throwing) – walk-off ground out with the bases loaded (fundamentals kids)
PJ Pilittere: 1 for 4, 1 R, 1 HBP – I love this guy, even if he allowed 5 SBs
Aarom Baldiris: 2 for 5, 2 RBI
Juan Francia: 3 for 4, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Jason Jones: 6 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 12-3 GB/FB
Kevin Whelan: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K

High-A Tampa rained out. Game will be made up as part of doubleheader on Wednesday. I was looking forward to seeing how Jose Tabata would fare against this guy, who was scheduled to make a rehab start for Clearwater. Guess I’ll have to wait ’til tomorrow.

Low-A Charleston (6-0 loss to Asheville)
Mitch Hilligoss: 2 for 4, 1 E (fielding) – already his 3rd error of the year
Jose Gil: 1 for 3
rest of lineup: 0 for 22, 1 BB, 7 K – at one point Asheville pitchers retired 15 River Dogs in a row…
Tim Norton: 4.1 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 7 K, 1 WP
Mike Martinez: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K – personal fave…
