Coming this June: The MLB draft on TV
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2862901

The NFL and NBA drafts have been televised for years. Now, Major League Baseball is joining the trend.

For the first time in its history, the baseball entry draft will be aired live on ESPN2. Coverage will begin on Thursday, June 7th at 2 p.m. ET from Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. The broadcast will end at 6 p.m. ET.

Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig said the telecast, "will give fans access to see this critical function of an organization's development. This is an idea whose time has come."

Each team's first round pick will be televised and all clubs will have a maximum of five minutes to make their selections.

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays will have the first selection. The San Francisco Giants will have three picks in the first round, while the Toronto Blue Jays and the Texas Rangers will each have two first round choices.

The draft will have 50 rounds and will conclude after all 30 teams have passed on a selection or after the final selection of the 50th round, whichever comes first.

Yankees are now on The clock. It will be exciting when Bud Selig announces " With #30 pick of Mlb Draft, Yankees select Catcher Mitch Canham"

I go to school in Wilkes-barre and both the Duncans are pretty good ballplayers and are capable of big-league stuff, and Phillips just does whatever he wants in Scranton, his fielding is awful though.

Petes Quick quotes on Baseball Tonight;

Peter Gammons ... Looked Ticked

"I did not expect Clemens to sign this quick" Sure Pete.....you knew just accept it !!!!!

"Yanks spent 28 Million what do you expect" LOL Pete.... Dice-K might end up being another IRABU!!!

"Roger is only 5 to 6 inning pictcher" Pete I looked up Clemens 2006 Numbers and I hate to tell you Pete... Roger went mostly 6 to 7 innings in most of his starts.

"Yankee bullpen will be a big question mark" Yes... Pete I agree but soon we will have 4 solid starters, If the Red Sox would of lost Beckett, Schilling and Dice-K how would the Sox pen be right now?

If Clemens would of signed with Red Sox Gammons comments would of been;

"Yes Clemens was dying to be a Red Sox thats why he came back early"

"If the Red Sox spent over 100 Million for Dice-K why not 28 Mill for Roger?"

" Roger can still go 7 or 8 innnings"

"Yes the Red Sox have the best bullpen in the AL"

(not 100% related, but u love lincecum, so...) im watching the game on espn, and so far he's thrown all fastballs, as of through 3 innings. He has to show the curve a little bit, or they will hit his fastball like ryan howard did over the centerfield fence. Also, it could just be the gun, but his fastball is topping out at 95 and is mostly about 93. I have read its in the high 90's and even 100 on occasion.

Redsox Response Yankees getting Clemens.

They will trade for A's pitcher Rich Harden for Craig "I'm so great" Hansen, Big Papi bobblehead doll, and Matt Clement

I'm wondering if it makes sense to give Shelly Duncan the Andy Phillips treatment at some point this year. The kid is raking in AAA, and while he is far from a prospect, there is little chance that he hits worst than Minky. He could probably approximate Josh Phelps with the added bonus of being a fifth outfielder.
