According to Pete Abe, ESPN will televise Roger Clemens’ Friday start with High-A Tampa. I’m sure you’ve seen Rocket pitch countless times over the last 24 years, but if you wanna grab a look-see at guys like Jose Tabata, Juan Miranda, Colin Curtis and Frankie Cervelli (OMG, he’s like, sooooooo hot), just tune in. If we’re lucky, Alex Smit will be pitching for Fort Myers, and we’ll get to see his underhanded knuckle curveball.

Triple-A Scranton

Jeff Marquez: 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 1 WP, 6-7 GB/FB – I dunno, if his sinker was as good as advertised, wouldn’t his GB/FB stats be better?
Kevin Whelan: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

High-A Tampa (6-1 win over Dunedin)
Reegie Corona: 0 for 3, 2 BB, 1 K, 2 SB

A-Jacks: 2 for 5, 2 R, 2 2B, 1 K  – don’t be hatin’, you know you dig the nickname…
Seth Fortenberry: 1 for 4, 1 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 K
Chris Kunda: 1 for 2, 1 BB – I said earlier this year that he should be playing everyday, looking at his numbers, I take that back...
Grant Duff: 5 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 3 K
David Robertson: 2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 WP, 1 Balk, 4-0 GB/FB – phew, he’s not hurt…but balked in the winning run and has given up 7 H in last 6 IP, which isn’t so hot when you consider he gave up only 5 H in the previous 17.1 IP

Jesse Litsch shutdown Orioles Lineup- 2-1

Can some give a brief scouting report on Litsch? Everyone saying He’s better than Hughes?

  • dan

WHY IS KENNEDY STILL IN TAMPA?!?! and didn’t chris kunda pitch yesterday? he did well, no hits, maybe he should stay there. he can’t be worse than shawn chacon as far as alaskan pitchers go.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Joseph P.

Anyone who says he’s better than Hughes is an idiot. At least at this point.

I keep hearing Yankees will draft southpaw at pick #30. His name is Nick Scmidt. He doesn’t throw hard, He throws between 88-92 on fastball, decent change, avg slider.

  • Zack

Yeah, get Kennedy up to AA and bump someone up from AA to AAA for the love of God! By the end of the season, Kennedy and Joba should be gearing up for next season at AAA/the majors…

    Sx,

We’ll cover all that in our draft preview.

Man, Austin Jackson seems like he’s figuring things out. Strikeouts down, walks up, and now he’s mashing XBH. Hopefully he doesn’t spend the entire season at Charleston.

A-Jacks – If he ever gets to be a big name, that will catch on. Of course, MSM will probably cut it down to A-Jax.

um. underhanded knuckle curveball ? ha. is that a joke

  • http://riveraveblues.com Mike A.

steve – I’m as serious as a heart attack. He throws his knuckle-curve underhanded, and he strikes out a TON of guys.

  • steve

hahaha. oh man i have to see this. is he on you tube or anything ? i dont understand the physics of it, how does he get on top of it throwing it underhand? thats insane.

  • http://riveraveblues.com Mike A.

I’ve been trying to find video of smit for a couple years now, but to no luck.

He throws all his other pitches normally though, so hitters clearly know it’s coming when he winds up, and they still can’t it. It’s freakin’ amazing.
