The scouts Kevin Goldstein (Baseball Prospectus) talks to said he was hitting 97 in his outings, which means he probably sits 92-95 normally.

Not to mention Baseball America ranked Joba to have the best fastball in the yanks system. Plus, wasn't he hitting 99 MPH in the Hawaii winter ball

Casey Weathers wouldn't make sense. He's got a good arm, but the Yanks don't need another reliever. Plus he's no better than JB Cox, Kevin Whelan or Mark Melancon anyways.

I'm not a big fan of high school catchers, I prefer college catchers because they have experience calling games, plus you're a bit more certain he can stay behind the dish. Just my preference though.

Yes, If Yankees don't get Canham at pick #30, Yankees could take best high school catcher in high school. His name is Devin Mesaraco.

Yankees doesn't have supplemental first round pick unlike last year.

Some Projections that Yankees may take Casey Weathers at pick 30. Is that good pick when yankees are stacked with relief pitchers in the minors?

Ed - Oh yes, Joba can bring it. He sits 93-95 and can crank it up to 98.

That's one big problem with the big league rotation, the guys in there now can't throw a fastball by the hitter. That'll change once Roger and Hughes come back.

question... Does Joba really throw 93-95 on a radar gun? I am so tired of hearing how fast all these pitchers throw only to see them and find out it was all exageration.

Hopefully he spends time with Ian Kennedy and Joba Chamberlain while he's down there too...

That's what I like to hear. Clemens mentoring Hughes in the ways of pitching is one of the bonuses of having Roger around this year. That'll hopefully help the kid develop in the right direction.
