the reason Ramirez does not get a chance with the big cub is the yanks 7th and 8th inning relievers are so good and consistent. they throw alot of strikes and we can count on alot of 1 2 3 outings..........

just kidding, I have no idea why they wouldn't give ramirez a try, not in the late innings to start god forbid he may be any good!!!!!!!!

Hey Adam- the E Duncan comparrison is valid to a point- but I think Tabata is much more gifted than Duncan, and the prospect he is most often comparred to is Fernando Martinez of the Mets, and the 18 year old Martinez is in double AA and doing well... the season is long and if Tabata gets especially hot in the pitching friendly league he is in I don't think Trenton will break him- also, on his weekly blog he has mentioned a couple of times about wanting to make it to trenton this summer--- & with his protection in the line-up now at AA(Miranda) I think pitchers will spend a lot of time pitching around him... there are valid points in him staying or going- but I don't think a bump in competition will break him as it seemed to do with young Eric Duncan.
it seems the power game is where people debate tabata's potential the most- will he be Manny Ramerez or Bernire Williams in terms of his power numbers- I think as a young player- if he reaches the majors before he starts hitting home runs he'll still be useful is he has a high BA. & OBP.

Holy crap, great catch Greg. According to The Baseball Cube, he hasn't pitched in the pros since 2001. Talk about holding on to the dream...

C-Note, I think promoting Tabata to Trenton would be an Eric Duncan-sized mistake. The kid is only 18, and while he is impressing in Tampa, he's not exactly dominating (aka only hints of power).

With a kid that age, the Yanks can afford to take their time and wait for him to fully develop and spend a full year or more at each year. He'll never contribute to the big league club without power, so there is no point in aggressively promoting him through the system until he shows some.

Just think, even if Tabata spends a full year at Tampa, then at Trenton and then at Scranton, that still puts him on pace to hit the bigs in his age 21 season.

Considering the Yanks lack of position depth in the minors, I think it is of up most importance to not make the same mistake with Tabata as they did with Duncan, promoting him before he was truly ready.

Considering the money the cubs gave him Samardzija has to be a huge disappointment this year

What more Edwar must do to crack the bullpen is a mystery.
Nice games today for Action Jackson & Betances... think Tabata is starting to make push towards Trenton- still waiting for Horne's call up to Scranton
