Malcard-
Jackson would need to have a MONSTER second half to crack the Top 100, like .400-.500-.700 kind of MONSTER. There’s just so many good players in the minors right now, it’s ridiculous. The future of baseball looks very good.

Mike, do u think Jackson will make Baseball America’s top 100 prospects if he keeps up a line of around .290-.360-.460, which looks completely possible by the way he’s hitting now in Tampa?

Rich, I listened to the game via minorleaguebaseball.com and the announcers for the other team were surprised at how Joba constantly used his breaking ball in fastball counts. Of course, right after they said that he grooved a bases juiced fastball inner half to one of their best hitters, who smacked it for an rbi single.

I think Joba is probably working on his secondary pitches which leads to the higher pitch counts.

Scout,

I know it’s not good that Joba is a bit inefficient right now. However, I like that he’s throwing a lot of pitches. Gotta build up that arm strength. We can worry about efficiency later in the season. But if he’s throwing a lot of pitches now, hopefully he can build stamina and throw deeper into games later in the season (with more efficiency, too).

Clippard is showing what most scouts always said about him — bottom of rotation guy. You don’t win pennants with #5 starters; you win with two or three top-of-the-rotation studs and a couple of #3 starters. You deal the #5s for depth elsewhere and keep a couple around (Karstens) for swing duty. Clippard is trade bait, like Steven White, Brett Smith, Jason Jones.

Chamberlain is throwing too many pitches, with the walks an striekouts combined. The Yankees will want him to become more efficient.

As for Jackson, lets see where he is after 40 games in the league.

I very much doubt that they’d pitch him on short rest. They have this thing with babying prospects.

I’ll keep checking the Trenton papers, though. I actually want to head to see Joba pitch sometime soon, too.
