Madden writes from ignorance, but he isn't entirely wrong. Those of us who follow the Yankee organization closely -- and who else reads blogs like this one? -- would have to agree that it hasn't yet produced position players likely to become major league mainstays. Tabata, the best of the group (despite questions about his power), is probably three years away from providing serious help at the major league level. There is no everyday player at Scranton or Trenton who projects as a major league star, although a few may prove useful in lesser roles.

If the Yankees are to succeed over the next two or three years, it will likely be with an emphasis on pitching and defense. The team needs to win low-scoring games because it will probably have much more trouble scoring runs. The stress on pitching means a rapid rebuilding of the bullpen is in order.

Re: the Madden article - add to that the fact that he seems to think, or at least insinuate, that Chase Wright put up big numbers at AA last year, when he had not pitched in AA until this year.

It's not the fault of Wright or Clippard that they weren't better in the bigs, they were not supposed to be in the bigs yet. Chase had only made 2 starts in AA when he got the promotion and Clippard had only made like 5 starts in AAA.

Yeah, I saw that too and got pretty irritated. His attitude towards our pitching prospects has prompted me to write the entire article off as sensationalist drivel. The guy is a 'tard.

Nice couple starts for CHASE, considering all the high ceiling talent just behind him are these starts making him good trade bait???

Good news of PHIL Hughes in NY Daily news, felt good throwing off mound--- now onto some BP sessions, 3 rehab starts, and back to the Bronx by the end of JULY

Horne is having a helluva season- with all the young guns the Yanks have I hope they throw around some $$$ for some international signee position players starting monday

If edwar is with the ball club in the Bronx I hope they drop run-elvis from AAA roster and promote Horne

where did you hear Ramirez was called up????

the yanks pen has to walk at least 1 guy every inning or 2 it is mandated... they are just keeping to the plan.. myers is as sharp as ever.. with procotr at least he has some potential he is only 30, myers just stinks and is 38...he is a waste on a team of wastes..

i read another post somewhere and the essence was if money was no object ha=ow many of these players would you have on the team and it was the uusal 8 or so; mariano, jorge, derek, arod, pettite, wang, cano(he stinks but is young), cabrera(he is young also), and proctor,. I though Hideki should be added to the list. The point is the team has about 10 guys who really are worth being on the team..That is it......

That is a real indictment of this crowd....what a disgrace and we cannot even get rid of kyle, myers, villone, nieves, and others...They are too vital to these great cause........

this is an even less likeable team then the last few years.....
