McCutchen isn’t on the A list. he’s 24 in the FSL striking out just under 6 per 9 IP. at best he’s a trading chip in my opinion.

Don’t hold your breath about Peavey. All indications are that he’s heading to college and not to the pros yet.

Its funny baseball site keep talking about the fact that there haven’t been any above lost sigingings in the first 5 rounds yet, and I just keep thinking “wait until the Yanks start announcing”

We probably wont hear about most of the above slot guys until right around August 15th

Thanks Joseph. I’ve heard that MLB has a gag-order on announcing signings for slot reasons as well. I’m pretty sure Brackman will sign, but I’d really like to see them ink Angelini and Peavey. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Nothing yet, Steve. There have been reports of many of the players having a deal in place, but the announcement being delayed because they are so far above slot value.

You’ll see news here the second we hear it.

I know there isn’t really room but I would like to see McCutchen moved up by the end of the year. In September he will be 25 so he isn’t exactly a young guy for A ball.

For those keeping tabs on the 2006 draft, do not forget to add Betances and Kontos to the interesting list of pitching talent. A few more of these guys are bound to get hurt, but it’s still an impressive group.

When Shelly Duncan came up, the announcers pointed out he was a 2nd round draft choice in 2001. That prompted me to take a look on the Baseball America web site at past Yankee 1st round draft choices, going back to Derek Jeter. That list, alas, is enough to make you cry. We’re going to need a few more years like 2006 to wash away the past.

i like DotF much more when i don’t have to click a link to finish reading. i know that may make me sound lazy, but your page flows much better when you can just scroll down and read all of the stories without having to open multiple windows/tabs.
