John am I reading you right that you dont think Brian Roberts deserved to be in the all star game? Because he is the best second baseman in the AL statistically

Byrnes and his dog were hilarious. Obviously, they didn’t add much to the baseball aspect of the broadcast, but the entertainment value of crazy-ass Eric Byrnes was off the charts. Much better than listening to the other dolts from Fox (that means you Joe Buck) wax theoretical about the ‘nuances’ of the game.

The game itself was well played and entertaining and LaRussa is an idiot for not pinch hitting Pujols.

Yeah, mg. I was pissed about the catching situation too.
The way the system is now they take two guys from every position. If the fans and players agree on the first choice they take the player’s second choice even if it’s a distant second who has no business in an All Star game (see Roberts, Brian).
I think when the fans and players agree they ought to give that pick back to the coach so that they could carry more premium position players (I’m thinking 4 catchers, 12 pitchers, 9 of everybody else).

Nah, Mike, it’s just a contrarian view. MLB hypes this thing up like it’s the World freakin’ Series, when it just amounts to an exhibition game.

Is “I did not watch the All-Star Game” the hippest new phrase since the NBA season concluded and people didnt have a reason to say, “I didn’t watch a MINUTE of the NBA Finals!” anymore? There should be an ESPY award for these kind of things
