Hughes got lucky. Lotsa liners at fielders, plus Damon's catch of a gapper.

I'm not ripping the 21-yr old rookie. But he's still not right. His stuff is diminished, and he's walking too many guys.

the YES gun had Hughes 90-93 most of the game, with a few 94s (mostly in the earlier innings).

despite getting saved by some good D in the 2nd, he still pitched very well, and quite frankly, that good luck makes up for some of the bad luck he's suffered through in a lot of previous starts.

with more experience will come better command, and if he can go 6 ip, 1 er with inconsistent command, imagine when he has his terrific command - which from his milb career we know can be truly exceptional.

Mike A.

Finally getting to watch Phil on yankees encore and and i noticed this tid bit two starts ago... When phil blew out his hammy and tried to bury that cirveball to Texieira, his landing leg was comppletely straight with no bend when he finished his delivery... but tonight everytime he finshes his pitches he keeps his front leg bent A LOT... Is Phil possibly just not finishing off his pitches because of the leg injury... i mean The Kid on the Jays front leg (like Joba) is completely straight when his delivery is finished but Phil has some significant bend to the leg when he finishes his delivery, no? Let me know what you think.

Red Sox fans who troll Yankee blogs simply have too much free time. Ignore them, folks, and they'll go away. Or we'll ban them. Either way, ignore them.

Ah......who's spanking who? Tampa Bay is spanking the Red Sox? That must be a mis-print or just more Yankee wishful thinking. That would be THE BEST TEAM IN BASEBALL with the BEST RECORD IN THE MAJOR LEAGUES 16 and Tampa Bay Devil Dogs: 9

You need to face the truth. You might get in as the wild card, but the AL East goes to the team in Boston Baby!!!!!!! California's Anahiem Angels are going to take care of you in the first round anyway, so I don't know what you all are getting so excited about?

If Clemens pitches in Boston Sunday night, trust me, he's going to get ROCKED!!!!!!!! To finish up the sweep!

Yea Mike I was gonna say... Gameday had edwar 92-93 and if edwar is ever at 92-93 he'll be even less hittable. but that just not the case.. phil showed some balls though.

He had a few in the mid-90's, but I'd say he was sitting 91-93. But everything he threw went down, nothing was straight. Color me impressed.
