Pouring fuel on the A-Rod fire

By

Over at LoHud, Peter Abraham has a quote from A-Rod in his piece on the celebration:

“This feels like home. It’s hard to believe that I played for another two organizations. So much has happened to me here, adversity, some success, that I feel like anything but New York feels weird for me now.”

Do we dare hope this is just another sign that A-Rod wants to and will do what it takes to stay in New York? We’ll be hearing a lot about this over the next five weeks.

Oh yeah, and here’s something I find weird: If Alex stays in New York, it will be his fifth full season in pinstripes. That’s as long as he played in Seattle (though he had about 200 at-bats over his first two stints in the bigs.

That seems weird to say. Doesn’t it feel like he was in Seattle a lot longer?

When all is said and done, Alex will die in pinstripes. Shouldn’t the best player in baseball history be a Yankee in the HOF? :)
