Safe!
That ball was 10 feet away from Barrett after the tag, if the ump hadn’t made the safe call, Holliday coulda did a backwards crab-walk to the plate to touch it.
Safe.
You know how I know? Because the umpire spread his hands. And I kinda wanted the Rockies to win anyway, so I’m taking that side.
I’ve been a longtime proponent of instant replay. The RIGHT CALL is paramount to everything else. a team’s season may have been ended prematurely due to a wrong call. how can anyone defend that?
every other pro sport has a form of IR. why should baseball be the only exclusion?
dude where’re your balls? instant replay? in baseball? are you serious? even if they did have it, which the commish said would never happen yesterday it would of been inconclusive. thats baseball and thats why its great. the camera angle wouldn’t of shown anything anyway the umpires own eyes had the best view, he could of hit the front corner of that plate.
The umpire, standing BEHIND Michael Barrett, had no view of that play. He couldn’t see the front corner of the plate the way the play unfolded at all. Period.
