Posada rounds out the 40-man roster

By Benjamin Kabak

The Yankees officially announced their deal with Jorge Posada this afternoon. At this point, their 40-man roster is stocked in advance of the Rule V draft. A-Rod and Rivera won’t officially re-enter the fold until after the draft.

God I love this site. Literally everytime I get bored I look here and there is something new to read. You must never sleep.

that means the yankees won’t have a pick, right? i guess it’s not that important, but i wouldn’t really blink about exposing Andy Phillips on waivers if there was an intriguing player out there. the 2008 yankees probably don’t have much room on their 25 man roster for a rule V pick though.

steve says:

correct. they can’t participate unless they have an opening. i can’t see them picking anyone except for a possible reliever

Cliff Corcoran mused about this over at Bronx Banter about a week and a half ago. It’s a good analysis.

Hankenstein says:

When every addition to the 40 man roster means exposing a quality player to waivers, I think its time to trade some prospects. The spending spree on resigning our veterans means we are built to win now. I love rooting for home grown prospects, but if we have to move a few to get an ace, I’m all for it.

ps- I stole my name from an Orioles message board.

Mike A. says:

I’ve been calling him Hankenstein for like, 2 weeks now! And no, I didn’t see it on an O’s message board.
