Look for Sublett to remain at second base. My projection is that he would start off in Tampa and could be the fast riser out of the 2007 Draft. I had the chance to watch him play his first professional season when I covered the Staten Island Yankees and he was my favorite out of all of them. It was close vote between him and Justin Snyder for team MVP. Sublett just missed making the All-Star Team last season and even just missed the record for RBIs by a Staten Island Yankee in a single season. He also was able to come back and tie the previous record for batting average, before Snyder set a new one.

Jeter wont be replaced by Sublett, but rather by Angelini or Mojica (speaking of which Mike A, what's the story with that kid?).

Here's my prediction though:

Sublett turns out to be a bigger, stronger version of Pedroia, and DOES supplant Cano at 2nd circa 2010/11. However, by then Cano's bulked up and is mashing to the tune of 30 homers/yr, and has added another .25 pts of obp as well as his eye improves, making him a .300/.375/.525 guy. That combined with his arm makes him the new rf, with Ajax in cf and Tabata in lf.

Jeter moves to first for Angelini/Mojica (my money's on the goombah out of deference to our host Mike A and Yankee tradition), Posada's the dh with Romine/Montero taking over, and Arod's holding onto to the hot corner still.

Whadyathink?

Can he stick at short stop? I don't think he's supplanting Robbie Cano in a few years (if everything goes swimmingly), but Jeter will be ripe for supplantation (is that a word?) in a few years. Honestly, he should move now, but they'll wait a little while longer before he's moved.

I can't wait to see what Sublett does at Tampa next season. He will definitely be one of the highlights of the team.

The infield seems to be the potantial strength of the team next year, but the outfield and starting rotation don't look like they will be anything special.

I think Sublett has a good chance to be a better all round prospect then Duncan and Gonzalez who everyone loves because of his defense, wich in hand, should make him one of the best position players the yankees will have in the next 2 years within the system. And I didn't know he had that kind of pop...not to bad at all for a guy whos projected to be a utility man.

I got to see this kid play against Hudson Valley and to say he's "funky" in the box is a bit of an understatement.
