However, it is a touchy issue. I think many of us are guilty of driving over the legal limit when going out. People make bad decisions everyday, that don't result in someone dying. It is truly a tragedy that her family will suffer from for a long time, but is also something Leyritz will never forget everyday of his life. My cousin was killed on September 11 of 2001, coming back from a prayer vigil for the victims of 9/11. The driver that caused the accident was coming back from a cancelled concert doped up on everything in the world. He had many prior offenses for drug related incidents. Due to the fact he was 17 he spent little time in prison and was released. A couple months later he was involved in an armed robbery at an elder woman's house an finally sentenced to time without paroll. This is what I think is the problem with the justice system. Drinking and driving is serious, but should someone do hard time if they make that decision after a party and it results in a fatality? I really don't know. There should be punishment, but the pain of knowing you killed someone is a daily punishment I would never want to deal with. How many PSA's, posters and whatnot have been drilled into the public's mind? But yet there are still idiots who drink and drive. I am actually a non-drinker so I come in handy when out with friends as a built in dd...I just don't get it...its been good that we resigned everyone but aside from that this offseason as utterly sucked for the Yankee uniform...
