Check this out: four out of five ESPN analysts think that all the teams in baseball will combine to post an above-.500 record. This isn’t rocket science, it’s adding and subtracting, but apparently that’s too much to ask. Did you catch Olney saying ”Tom Gorzelanny is what he is; Paul Maholm is the interesting guy on that staff” the other day on BBTN? Ridiculous.

Brian says:

I took that as Olney saying, “We know Gorzelanny is pretty good. Maholm is someone we’ve been interested in who has shown recent promise.” I can definitely see how it wouldn’t be interpreted that way, but that was my take.

Jamal G. says:

Brian I took at that way too but when you say that on BBTN, you have to expect the worse. I actually like Olney, but when you work for ESPN and make a statement on BBTN that can be interpreted either way, it’s usually going to be the negative due to the constant ignorance of baseball on that show.

Count Zero says:

They did the same “league above .500″ thing last year. Apparently they don’t see the relationship where one team winning means another team is losing. They are just god awful — I don’t even watch BBTN anymore because it’s just stupid.

E-ROC says:

The presence of Harold Reynolds is sorely missed on BBTN.
