Complete minor league assignments

Chad Jennings is back at it with the complete rosters. These aren’t official, but they’re darn close to it. Double-A Trenton will be the team to watch this year, but Low-A Charleston’s rotation is loaded with some serious potential. Can’t wait for the games to begin.

Most of them are just trade bait. We wont need a SS or 3B for a while. Although, I do see major potential in pitching, catching, and brett-phatlip-gardner.
One might say we need a SS now…
Yea, that “What If” scenario over at Pending Pinstripes has really piqued my interest.

Yeah but for Gonzalez to hit .300/.350/.400 in the Majors, he would have to show a lot of improvement at an even higher level. Considering most scouts peg him as a solid utility player, it’s not very likely. It would be welcome, and at that point, Jeter should move. But don’t hold your breath.
Trust me, I can’t hold my breath any longer as I’m already occupied doing so for Christian Garcia and Eric Duncan.
Charleston certainly wins the potential award. That’s for sure.
Is Kevin DeLeon really not ready for full-season ball? Where is he expected to end up this 2008 season?
I like how people keep talking about Mark Melancon steaming his way through the minors this year and becoming a late inning guy when JB ox is primed to do just that as he will head to AAA once the weather heats up. As for Melancon, he and his 6 1/3 innings of pro ball need some work before we can talk about a Joba/Ian-esque rise to the Bronx.
No on DeLeon, he’ll start in Extended Spring. The Yanks send only their very best Latin American prospects to the US for Extended Spring the year after signing, the rest usually get a year or two in the Dominican Summer League. Cano, Tabata, Montero all made the jump to Ext. ST in their first full year, it’s an exclusive group.
DeLeon should be in the GCL, and appears to be on the fast track like Jesus Montero was.
Do the first official minor league games start tomorrow?
Minor league season starts on Thursday. Usually they wait until each team has played a full series at the big league level before starting the MiL season.
I’m calling Hilligoss my breakout candidate of the year. I think he could show a big improvement this season and vault up the top 30 lists.
