The nickname " dollar bill " comes from the fact that Cashman always wants to look like he saving money. When in fact he out spends everyone on the international level. When in fact he can give a kid like Andrew W. Brackman 4 million and not have him pitch for a year.
Yes even the Yankees have a budget, but don't make it the reason for why you do or you don't make a deal.

True or False: Kei Igawa threw more innings at the Major League level than at the Minor League level last year.

I don't think the Yanks are too worried about putting him on the roster because of the money he makes. If they think he can contribute, he'll end up in the Bronx; if not, he'll end up in Tampa.

That is also one of the strangest nicknames for Brian Cashman I've ever seen.

If you think the Yanks are going to have a 4 million dollar player in AAA your nuts.
They are going to find a way to keep Igawa in the majors and the long man in the bull pen is it.
Brain " Dollar Bill" Cashman wouldn't trade him because it would be admitting what a giant mistake he made. I can justify most of Cashman's bad moves, but this one kills me because he tired to save money by signing Igawa and not Ted Lilly.
Ironically, he wasted more money than he would of saved. So unless Igawa has a giant melt down we are going to have the most expensive long man in baseball. Thanks to Brain " Dollar Bill" Cashman.

Let me rephrase that- I would rather see Britton instead of Traber, but since they added him to the roster it looks like he is a lock.

I don't understand this love affair the team seems to have for Karstens- I liked the kid when he was first called up but last year (yes, yes, I know of the injury) and this spring just confirm he is a AAAA player- Igawa, they need to get him back to AAA where he can hopefully have a couple of good starts and then they can trade him to a hopeless sack like Bill Bavasi. If there needs to be a long man, I'm all for Rasner. But, I don't think they should carry a long man just to have a long man- would rather see Traber, Patterson, Oly in the pen along with Joba, Mo, Farns, and Hawkins.

I've been saying all offseason that Ohlendorf coming out of the pen with that mid 90s sinker would be brilliant. My only concern is that he'll need that splitter working for him the second or third time through the league, but it can take most of the season before even division rivals figure out a relief pitcher.

Patterson/Britton/Ohly in the pen. Have Humberto/Melancon/Betance in the wings for the time Hawk shows he can't cut it. Humberto is coming off surgery, but is lights out if healthy. Hopefully, Farnsy can do well this year. If not...well, that's were the wings come in. Just my thoughts.
