The Yankees are counting down the games left in Yankee Stadium right on the scoreboard. Take a look:
To me, there’s something a little bit off-putting about this giant countdown. We know Yankee Stadium’s days are numbered, and we know this summer will be filled with tributes to the legends and myths that dot Yankee Stadium history. But do we really need to have the end of the House That Ruth Built rubbed in our faces like this for the next six months? Fans can’t miss the new stadium, and now they can’t miss this sign either.

2 ALDS, 2 ALCS, 2 WS, + the All-Star Game.
To be fair, the sign does say “Regular Season Countdown,” and there are still 81 regular season games left.

dammit, i read this post before the april fools day post, so the surprise was ruined. i will always wonder what i would have been thinking as i read.
of course not reading it probably extends my life some.
Yeah the giant cement structure across the street is the sword of damocles hanging over Babe’s house, the countdown is, in the words of Stuart Scott, “from the department of redundancy department.” Bad form Yankees staff!

Did you read the comments? Did you try Googling? Tanaka was a character in Marjo League II, and the Yanks haven’t released Edwar Ramirez. It’s an April Fools joke.

They’re trying to make it seem like a new stadium is something to be excited for. It’s not.
