It just shows you how baseball is getting more and more advance. Girardi, a young manager is pretty much a guy who knows what WARP is or BABIP is.

I love Torre but he wouldn’t know stuff like that most likely.

We heard something about his new-age thinking when they were doing interviews, and I remember reading that the Yankees were very impressed by that.

I thought people were saying last night (on here) that he was managing like Torre for not putting Duncan in. I understood him keeping Giambi in but some people were complaining that he was being Torre-esque.

I think Girardi is very much by the book.

With the Yanks it’s hard to make moves now. It’s a lineup of all #3,4,5 hitters. 3-run HR’s beat small ball during the season. But against top flight pitching and the post-season it’s a whole different ballgame. Let’s hope the team will have a pinch runner and bunter by then.
