Jesus, the whole wesbite went down for a little bit.
Three times tonight in fact.
I counted two but that last one was LONG.
It was really slow. Now it seems to be back to normal.
you can’t really blame girardi for anything that’s going on. the team is just not hitting collectively. everytime the yankees have a guy in scoring position, it seems like damon, cano and giambi are always the guys up at the plate.
You can blame him for some things but not everything.
The Yanks are going to lose two games they could have won in Boston without seeing their two best relievers get into the game. It’s the same mistake Torre made over and over again. I guess it makes sense too because Girardi is after all a Torre disciple.
Girardi has had a rough series but I am not gonna make a big deal out of it.
But he sure could have used Ensberg or the bunt with Damon up..
but thats when the moves a manager makes become that much more important. yeah, when the Yanks r hitting as usual, u or me could manage the team by just sitting back and watchin them mash away. but that isnt happenin at the moment, and these last 2 games vs the Red Sox could almost be put entirely on Girardi’s shoulders. hey, Torre at the end started getting ALOT of heat for the moves he made, especially his in-game moves, so im not gonna give Girardi a pass………
i don’t know how you can say that this game’s loss is on girardi’s shoulders. that just doesn’t make any sense. why? because he didn’t bunt damon to move the runners? that doesn’t guarantee anything. the only thing i didn’t get was putting betemit in over molina and letting posada catch. if he wanted to do that, he should have brought in chamberlain, who could have kept people off the bags. that’s probably all i would blame him for, but that’s only 1 run that you can definitely argue was caused by his managerial decision.

girardi is killing us! damon has to bunt in that situation put the tying run in scoring position, with 2 cracks at tying the game. then he takes out molina and puts posada behind the plate who has not caught in a week!
I think it’s BS that people are mad at Girardi for electing to swing away with Johnny Damon. How can you justify doing that when you have Cano in such a dreadful slump AND going against a LHP? I don’t get bunting in that situation, your unnecessarily giving up an out. The payoff of having him bunt is not great enough over letting him swing to call for the bunt there.
because u still have an inning to go (9th) and the infield wouldve played back and given up a run, which wouldve happened since Cano grounded out to 2nd, and STILL Abreu wouldve been up with the tieing run at 3rd.
I know that Damon had some walks today and all, but even when gets a hit it seems like it’s a blooper. His bat looks real bad this year, so yeah I do think he should have bunted.
Besides, with runners on 2nd and 3rd Cano would have gotten some good pitches because they wouldn’t wanna get to Abreu, who’s been hot this year.

i think ARod should just go to his wife until she has the baby startin tomorrow, cause right now he cant hit a watermelon (maybe he could take Cano with him). honestly, maybe he is a bit distracted with the impending birth????????
Does anyone else think this year is a lost cause, we just aren’t a good team but next year will be amazing.

Joe Girardi has NOT lived up to his expectation. His small ball baseball has been thrown out the window because in the end the yankees are over rated over payed veterans that don’t roll that way. Didn’t Girardi say he will pick the roster on skill not age. Well as of the first game of the season Gardner>Damon and Shelley>Giambi.
I hope, but I sincerely doubt it. They started very slow last year also and ended up just fine.
Both teams have better days ahead.

The reality is Cashman needs to suck it up and release Farnsworth. There is absolutely no reason he should still be in the pen. Cashman gets a pass on some of his moves, but not this one.
If the Yanks are going to pay Farnsworth $5 million to hurt the team in the pen, they can pay him $5 million to pitch somewhere else too. I agree.
The sad part is that we hang onto him for some reason, but if we eat that contract, some one will take him in a trade. How about Detroit?

Being a left coastie (and as I referenced in a previous post), Seattle’s pen sucks ass since the Bedard trade and Bavasi is the stupidest GM on the planet- they need to dump Farnsworth off on them (he can meet up with Stottelmeyer) and call up Britton.

Hey the way the Yankees are playing, 6-7 doesn’t look so bad. Bats stink, Hughes and Kennedy have not pitch well and we some injuries, and despite that we are 6-7.
why the hell is farnsworthless on the team we know he sucks! bring up britton, or patterson or albajedo!
So the Tigers and Sox should give up the season too uh after 12/13 games into the season?
They show signs of life and smart baseball. Nothing from the yankees.

we know eventually A-Rod will start swinging, and I’m almost that confident in Cano, so at the moment no, 6-7 doesn’t look TOO bad, but the way we’ve been playing that Girardi fire everyone was talking about when he was hired would be nice, and I just haven’t seen it

whoever says this is gonna be a long season after only 13 games is i think bein a bit ridiculous. BUT just because its this early in the season, we still have a right to question ALOT of Girardi’s moves so far, which quite honestly have been pretty bad so far….

There is still not reason to panic, this is a good team with options. Hughes and Kennedy will get it together. The bats did the same thing at the beginning of last year. We are positioning ourselves much better than last year. This is who the Red Sox are, though. Hughes will come along and the bats will wake up and the sox will have little room for improvement.
Ortiz hitting under .100 is not normal, but yeah I get your point.
Sox do have room for improvement. Papi’s avg will shoot up and Beckett will be back to his ace form.
i agree on ortiz, but beckett is the most overrated pitcher in baseball. a stud in the postseason, don’t get me wrong, but how, after one wang-esque year, is he considered a shutdown ace now, when wang isn’t? Sure wang’s postseasons haven’t been great, but an ace doesn’t have a full year of 5+ era after his first season or two. period. He improved a lot last year, sure, but he’s got to do something like that at least twice more before i can call him an ace. i’d expect something along the lines of 17-9, 3.75, 185 this year.
let me add fuel to the fire, Buchholz looked ALOT better than Hughes!!!!!!! honestly i hope Buchholz sucks and i assume Hughes and Kennedy will pitch ALOT better, but u have to admit, Buchholz did pitch ALOT better than Hughes this weekend, granted he too was a bit wild and we let him off the hook as we did to Dice-K (who btw, i havent seen anything from this and last season. he is a decent pitcher but thats it, and if he is the best Japan has to offer, maybe we r over-rating the talent overthere. btw, Saito has been by far the best pitcher from Japan that ive seen, Dodgers-era Nomo notwithstanding)
we’re Yankees fans, our whole purpose in life is to rave about our prospects and put others down. The reason we get so excited about the big 3 though is because they actually show real potential, especially Hughes and Joba. Our farm system under Cash and Oppy has grown more important and more impressive which has only stoked the flames
especially since we havent had prospects to brag about recently…..btw, Melky delivered again BOTH offensively and defensively!!!!!!! new t-shirts should save, Big 3 PLUS Melk-Man were saved!!!!!
Buchholz is 2 years older than Hughes, that’s certainly a factor.
Keep in mind that Buchholz is two years older than Hughes.
At some point, you can’t keep saying the opposing pitcher was just a great pitcher, and you have to blame the offense. Tonight it was Dice-k, yesterday Becket, before that Buchholz, Grienke and Bannister. Trust me, there aren’t that many aces floating around out there.
dice-k is good, but he’s a nibbler. when he lets it fly he’s damn near unhittable.
That’s why he frustrates so many of us in Red Sox Nation. Against Detroit on Tuesday he was phenomenal, last night he went back to nibbling. Christ, he should be fat now with all the nibbling he’s done.
We need to dumb Betemit, Shelley has definitely got to be brought back up soon we might as well let him get some at-bats. I like Alberto Gonzalez hes a real grinder at the plate. And every SWB game I’ve been to Lane and Gardner have done extremely well. Some things will have to be changed.
