I think they'd be hesitant to trade Farnsworth because they most likely would get a nice compensation pick back for him. And Cashman likes those.

I'm just tempering my expectations a bit. If I had a nickel for every no-hit, all-arm outfielder that converted to pitcher and starting blowing people away in the lower levels since I started following the minors, I'd have like, $5. He's been impressive so far, no doubt about it. But he's still thrown only 32.2 IP in his career.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Wilkins up in Tampa when either Cox or Melancon go up. There's obviously nothing holding him in Charleston

JB Cox is going to be sent to AAA Scranton once the weather heats up in June. Mark Melancon will be treated like the prospect he is, a college closer with 6.2 professional innings under his belt coming into the 2008 season recovering from Tommy John. A lot of people feel he can blitz through the farm system because he is in fact a college closer and they tend to move the quickest through a farm system but coming of TJS people should temper those expectations. It may be just about routine nowadays but TJS is still major elbow surgery.

I'd say Cox is in the the Yankees' pen this year, probably August. Best case scenario I'd say he's there before the July 31 trade deadline which would give Cashman every incentive to deal Farnsworth and get whatever he can for him.

Humberto Sanchez is on the 60-day DL but is not expected to throw off a mound until May. He is currently throwing bullpen sessions though. Mike can give you more details on him because I really haven't heard much.

wanted to thank you for the daily updates. I love them... it sounds like over the next few yrs. we will be seeing many new faces in the Bronx.

When is Humberto going to start pitching, any idea?

If Cox or Malancon have nice runs any chance they wind up in the Bronx in Sept.?
