Transforming the Stadium

In which Peter Gammons acts like the Red Sox homer he really is
Game 18: Those pesky Orioles

This photo — originated with the Yankees — is making the e-mail forwarding rounds right now. It’s the Stadium, mid-Papal setup. As you can see — click to enlarge — all of the Yankee Stadium advertising will be covered up before this weekend’s Mass at the Stadium. I wonder what song the Cardinals will all pick during the Yankee Jukebox segment after the top of the first inning.

The bullpen could use the rest.

I think he can do better than that. Look at the line from his previous start.

      Pope (W, 1-1) 5.0 4 1 1 1 8 0 1.93

I’m just not sure if he can handle the mystique and aura of Yankee Stadium. I mean St. Peters in nice, but Yankee Stadium is a baseball cathedral.
