The Yanks said they are going to break him back in as a reliever, but they plan on him being a starter. We’ll see how that goes.

And Sanchez hasn’t even pitched yet. He may be the best of the bunch for the relief corps.
Any definitive word yet on whether they will keep him starting or convert to a reliever?

I am 99.9% certain there won’t be any can’t miss prospects at 28. Hell I am pretty sure there won’t be any after 10, but a list of prospects I consider to be huge upside (stud) position players that could be available includes:

1- Eric Hosmer
2- Dennis Raben
3- Brett Wallace
4- Isaac Galloway

I just think that the bats are what makes this class special and we have a load a pitching in the lower levels.

That’s easy to say, but will there BE any stud position player prospects at 28 (or wherever)? There will be, I’m sure, some interesting/risky guys, but no can’t-miss position players.

I don’t see why he would drop though. Not represented by Scott Boras and as far as now he doesn’t have any outlandish bonus demands. He’s been projected in the Top 10 on almost every mock draft. A lot of guys expect him to go to his hometown Florida Marlins.

There were reports that he and A-Rod were working out during the Yankees off season last year in Miami. That’s great news for any organization that makes him their top pick in this upcoming June draft.

On the draft: I know we have enough 1st basemen/DH types already, but … Yonder Alonso is a beast! He made Thompson and the UVA relief corp look like children Sat. night. If he drops he’s a must.

Montero could be a token september call-up, like Henson was a few years back, not ready but let him get a feel, maybe gets in mop up time, all depends on how the season goes.

dont forget about Angelini’s skull which took a full on plate bound throw from Almonte from about 20 ft away last night…and then ricoched from his head into the 3rd base stands. It looked ugly but im sure hes fine.

He won’t IMO. I don’t see him spending anything less than a full year at each level for this season and the next. Brian Cashman stated that he won’t play above A ball this year but I don’t know if he meant the entire level or that he won’t play above Low-A. In 2009 he could start the year in Trenton but might start in Tampa if he does not get promoted this season. I’d day Tampa in 2009 with a cup of coffee in Double-A Trenton for like a week or so circa Austin Jackson 2007. In 2010 you could see him get significant time in Triple-A Scranton if he continues to just rake at a high level at AA but again, I see him spending the majority of the year at one level. Very optimistic view sees him as a September call-up in 2010 but I actually don’t foresee him getting any Major League game action.

Hopefully May of 2011 we can begin the Jesus Montero lookout. He could start 2011 as the New York Yankees starting Catcher and I would not be completely shocked if that were the case.
