What’s wrong with Kei Igawa?

The guys over at Saber Scouting made a trip to Triple-A Scranton’s season opener to take a look at the Kei-man, and figured out what’s wrong with him: A whole lot. It makes sense that it’s not just one big problem with Igawa, it’s a bunch of smaller problems building on each other. Surprisingly, they say there’s a lot to like about Igawa, and that whoever scouted and recommended him wasn’t completely wrong. Check it out.

Hey Mike thanks again for pointing us out to that site, instant bookmark since last week.

I read the article, any way you look at it, Igawa is 40 miles of bad road. If you look at any player in Double A, you will see a very good player (let alone Triple A), they wouldn’t be there if some talent wasn’t present . That’s the problem. I’m sure there is an upside to Igawa, but is it worth the dollars and the time that have been invested. If the Yanks get an offer they should take it and cut their loses, if not, give it to the end of the season and see if a settlement (buyout) can be reached. It may be in Igawa’s best interest to go back to Japan and be a star rather than waste his time toiling in the minor leagues.
