I think Hughes definitely well contribute this season. I'm not too sure about Kennedy.
Wow.... Who would think a month ago that the Yankees rotation would be Wang, Pettitte, Mussina, Rasner and Igawa on May 5th?
Baseball is a strange game.

Yes, you did. LOL
For 100th time I have nothing against the young movement. I lived the 1980's I understand. However the way this was implemented was wrong. They should of let them come along one at time.
Cashman once said with the expectations of a team like the Yankees if he could develop one rookie starter a year at any position that would be good.
I never understood the need to push these guys in here so fast with their age and IP limitations. Doesn’t now having fail cause more of delay in their development?

Mustang, Im with you on a lot of things but you are really beating a dead horse with these kids. You live and you learn they may not have been ready in April but hopefully they take this whole experience and grow from it. There is no doubt that they need these kids to succeed by the end of the year in order to go somewhere in the playoffs. Right now they are one for three with these kids, its called playing the odds. The reason I agreed with staying out of Santana wasnt because I had delusions that all three would be good, but its better to have more spots at the table then put all your chips in one spot. Its fine to try it but it hasnt been working as of late. This was one of the risks they knew they were going up against. But in the end this team looks pretty good and there is still four months left in the season for Hughes and Kennedy to contribute.

No, actually the true 1998 guys are the ones who scream about winning NOW!!!!111!!!one People who think rationally understand that sometimes you need a little patience. Seems like it's you who can't handle non-success.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with retooling and rebuilding a team in order to make them successful for the next decade once again; even a team like the Yankees needs to do that sometimes. Wasn't that the problem with the 80s teams, that they kept getting rid of prospects in favor of old overpaid over-the-hill veterans? Is that what you want to happen now?

Yes, Hughes and Kennedy have been awful. No one is saying they haven't. And they are rightly out of the rotation. They will get better, or they won't be called back up to the bigs. What would you propose instead? A 5-year deal for Kyle Lohse? Rasner can hold down the fort for a little while, and if IPK and Hughes continue to suck, a move will be made. But screaming bloody murder *a month* into the season is ridiculous. If you expected 2 rookies to transition to the bigs seamlessly , that's also ridiculous. The RAB guys have posted some horrendous rookie stats for a bunch of pitchers who ended up being pretty darn good.

As for winning a game, that's just a stupid argument. Kennedy was in line to win in his second start (against the Rays, 6 IP, 3 ER) until the bullpen blew the lead. Phil Hughes went 6, giving up 2 ER against Toronto in his first start of the year, and it wasn't his fault he didn't get the W as the offense was terrible.

The 1998 guys are ok with losing a year or two to develop. Winning allows you that comfort.
I was the same back in 1981, but a 15-year draught took care of that.

First, I don't need to cut them slack you guys do enough of that everything from the weather to run support. If you read some of my comments here I have tried to look at some of their positives, but their negatives keep biting me in the ass.
It’s not on me that the Yankees decide to put the weight of this season on 2 rookies. However, as a paying customer I do have the right to complain about it.
By the way that 27-year-old pick- up from Washington and Mr. Billingsley have both manage to do something that has escaped Hughes and Kennedy.
THEY WON A GAME !!!!!!!!!
