I hate Giambi more than most, but I will admit that he did have some offensive value up until last year, i.e. the 6th year of his contract. Tex will be 2 years younger than Giambi was when Giambi signed his deal. Tex is a much more athletic guy and will actually be able to stay at 1B during the contract. Plus, I'm not buying Jeter as a 1B. Jeter is an offensive asset at SS, but will not be at 1B. Tex will age better than Giambi. Texeira will be good for most of that and if one year's a mistake you eat it. More than that though and all the valid points you made become hazy.
