There is no reason why Igawa shouldn't have been dealt last season to the Padres.

He now joins the long list of players that Cashman didn't know when to sell high when he had a chance. Knowing Brian, he'll wait til Igawa's final year and then trade him for someone like Esteban Loiaza who has 3 years left on his contract.

"The Mets’ rainout had no bearing on Santana"

Not entirely true. The Mets now have no one lined up for Wednesday, while Santana and Pelfrey's normal rest falls on Thursday. Mets will probably bring up a starter for Wednesday, throw Pelfrey on normal rest Thursday against the Nats and give Santana an extra day to face the Yanks on Friday night. That makes sense anyway. Had the game not gotten rained out on Friday, Pelfrey would have started Wednesday and Santana Thursday.

As of now, the Mets list Santana for Thursday and Pelfrey for Friday, I believe, but I doubt that'll hold up. I expect to see Santana on the mound Friday night against Rasner.

Might be a joke, but one of Igawa's many sufferings could be the communication problem. Simplistic to think so, but maybe Matsuzaka and Okajima are saying he's a good pitcher, and if Boston thinks they can get him for next to nothing it may be a nice political move. I can't wrap my head around that exactly, but from a dollars standpoint it might be a risk they are willing to take. It's not like they would have to pay us a posting fee...

The funny thing is looking at Okijima's old Youtube videos of him pitching NO ONE could have predicted his success.

But then again that's what happens when you have a talented pitching coach like John Farrel.

Going back to the original blog article, he mentions Garcia commanding some serious offers if all goes well health wise. Could/should the Yanks take a chance on him for the back end of the rotation, especially with Hughes still on the DL?

Plus the Mets’ lineup kinda sucks now. Ryan Church is the only one hitting.

Yes, but you do know that every lineup turns into '27 Yankees against us, and every pitcher is Cy Young, right?

Oh man, I'd LOVE to see an IPK-Johan matchup. IPK was talking all sorts of shit about proving them wrong for sending him down, he seems really amped to get back to bigs. What better way to motivate him?

Santana vs. the Yanks will be a circus no matter who's pitching. I'm not looking forward to it, if it happens.

For what it's worth, I was at the Santana start on Saturday at the lovely dump that is Shea Stadium. He gave up 10 hits in 6 innings and wasn't particularly sharp.

Ah, I stand corrected. Thanks, Ben! Still, hopefully no Santana this week. I can just imagine the circus if it somehow ends up being Santana vs. Kennedy. Ugh.
