Setting the golden thong record straight

While we had a good laugh over the Jason Giambi thong story on Friday, it turns out that Portfolio’s piece was another example of subpar journalism. PeteAbe says that the thong story is nothing new, and Jason Giambi said that the Portfolio reporter never attempted to interview him for the piece. So much for journalistic standards.

the article mentioned that cano wore the thong, so the story isn’t really 10 years old (as abraham claims) unless giambi used to hang out with 15 year old dominicans.

regardless, the story was funny, and my life is better for having heard the motto: party like a rock star, hammer like a porn star, rake like an all-star.

The Daily News has an entire story with Quotes from Jeter and Damon wearing the thong. So I’m confused about whether they wore it or just hung it in their lockers?

Baseball players are an eccentric bunch…..even if it WERE 100% true, this is just another instance of them being silly and superstitious.

Besides, didn’t anybody who read those articles ever see Bull Durham?
