Game 57: Breaking even

By

The .500 refrain is getting old. Let’s just start a winning streak and break this stranglehold on that .500 plateau. The Yanks are 28-28 on the season and 3-3 on their current mini-road trip. They face Roy Halladay tomorrow, and a win today would be fantastic.

Other than that now-daily refrain, there’s not much to say. Andy Pettitte, coming off a strong start, faces Livan Hernandez who’s been better than expected for the Twins this year. Livan faced the Yanks last year and got lit up. A repeat of that performance would be great.

Expect a lot of roster moves this week and a win tonight. I hope. Game starts at 7 p.m. Apparently, the Twins can’t start two consecutive games at the same time.

And now taking the mound for the Yankees, the great oak Andy Pettitte!

  2. E-ROC says:

Does anyone think Matsui will end the season in the top 5 for the AL Batting Title?

  3. Jamal G. says:

    I love Alex Rodriguez.

  4. E-ROC says:

Who was that?! Oh, it was A-Rod!! 2-0 Yanks.

  5. Jamal G. says:

One thing that does suck, Livan Hernandez faced seven Yankee batters in the 1st inning but threw only 16 pitches. Granted they scored two runs on four hits so there’s no room for any complaints.

  6. E-ROC says:

This just in: Chase Utley is a good baseball player. Just hit his 21st birthday.

  7. Mike A. says:

Looks like Jason Lane opted to become a free agent. Today was the deadline, he either had to be in the bigs or he could opt out, and he’s not in SWB’s lineup. Woulda be a helluva coincidence if it was just a day off.

  8. Jamal G. says:

Why does John Flaherty keep acting like Joba Chamberlain has never started a game in his pro career? I like the guy but he’s sounding like an idiot.

  9. Joey says:

Alright, tough question: Who would you rather listen to for 3 hours commenting on your Yankee game:

    a. Joe Morgan
    b. Steve Phillips

I pity all of you that will make the decision, so I may add a choice c. Death (don’t choose that one, call the suicide hotline and tell them you’re listening to Morgan or Phillips. I’m sure they have a lot of people with that problem too)

    • Jamal G. says:

I’d rather listen to Steve Phillips, ignorant baseball analysis just entertains me to no end, especially when one is arrogant at doing so. Why do you think I listen to Mike and the Mad Dog? Joe Morgan is just senile.

    • E-ROC says:

Steve Phillips. I think Steve Phillips is tolerable. Joe Morgan lives me scratching my head and ultimately muting the TV. Plus, ESPN usually pairs Steve Phillips with Orel Hershiser or Rick Succliffe(spelling?). At least they aren’t doing the broadcast together.

    • Mike A. says:

Phillips. Morgan leaves you scratching your head, Phillips leaves you laughing at his idiocy.

    • A.D. says:

Phillips as people has noted at least it’s funny, Morgan would probably make me suicidal

  10. Jamal G. says:

Jesus Montero and Justin Snyder among four Charleston RiverDog players to be playing in the South Atlantic League All-Star game on June 17th. Charleston’s Manager, Torre Tyson, was named to the All-Star coaching staff.

    http://www.riverdogs.com/news/.....le_id=1473

    • Mike A. says:

Jon Ortiz and Jason Stephens were also selected to the team. I’m zure McAllister would have made it too if he hadn’t been promoted.

  11. Jamal G. says:

Diablo, Carlos Gomez is fast as hell.

  12. Captain Wiley says:

    Casilla=Elsbury=Gardner?

  13. Joey says:

Was it just me or did Cano look like he gave up on that run back and was shocked when he wasn’t out?

  14. Mike A. says:

Anyone here know what trade the Twins got Alexi Casilla in? Don’t cheat…

  15. pete says:

why does girardi hate to bunt the ball? it really isn’t that difficult to execute a safety squeeze from the left side of the plate – casilla just did it for the twins

    • Mike A. says:

I dunno, but he’s been maddeningly conservative. Very few steal attempts, hit and runs, stuff like that. Can’t always sit back and wait for a walk, bloop and blast.

      • whozat says:

Haven’t they stolen a bunch of bases in the last few games? And haven’t they hit-and-run a couple times today already?

  16. Randy says:

i swear to god i’m going to kill my friend. he’s on the rays wagon big time and thinks they’re gonna win 86 games. now he’s bombarding me with texts about their series with the sox.

  17. billyball says:

Giambi is pure hell on 1stbase. Its tough to watch his stone hands and feet. Not to say he should have had the errant throw, but a more athletic 1st baseman could have knocked that ball down. On the next play stonehands drops the throw. He gives his infielders no confidence and when you have Arod and Jeter making wild throws you need a guy that can catch the ball. We need better D and more speed. The national league style was suppose to follow Girardi, instead we continue to watch this base to base team that waits for the big hits and they don’t come in the playoffs against a team with decent pitching. Same ole junk, tough to watch!

  18. Mike A. says:

Carlos Gomez really needs to switch to decaf. Dude has two speeds, fast, and a million miles and hour.

  19. billyball says:

Listen Randi with an “I”, I feel like venting, I’m sorry if I offended you mam but this is Yankee baseball, not Sunday school.

  20. Mike A. says:

Kevin Mulvey is not in the low minors Michael Kay. Try Triple-A, where he finished 2007. Dumbass.

  21. BigBlueAL says:

This lineup at times is so fuckin pathetic its ridiculous.

  22. E-ROC says:

Steve Phillips is talking about draft. ESPN showed what grades the Twins gave to Mauer before they drafted him. They will continue talking about the draft after the break, in case no one was watching it on ESPN.

  23. Ben K. says:

I can’t wait to watch Michael Kay interview Snoop Dogg. I might have to live-blog that one.

  24. billyball says:

michael K is annoying but he sure is better than Suzann Waldman. She is by far the worst. We need David Justice and David Cone on the radio. now that would be entertaining.

  25. billyball says:

Big blue, I soo agree with you. It is soo hard to watch!

  26. Jamal G. says:

LoL, Michael Kay sounds pissed as hell that Robinson Cano keeps swinging at the first pitch.

    • as he well should be.

    • BigBlueAL says:

Can you blame him. Its not that he necessarily swings at the 1st pitch, its the pitch he swings at that’s the problem. After a leadoff single, 1st pitch he swings at low and away and almost hits into DP. In the 1st inning with 2 on and 2 out, on a 1-0 count, again pitch low and away and he pops up to left. I LOVE Cano like you do, so im not hating on him, but his approach is maddening to watch at times, especially now in his 4th season already.

  27. E-ROC says:

When in the hell did Moeller get that type of power? Only a double though. Damn ground rule double doesn’t allow Cano to score.

  28. E-ROC says:

nice broken bat RBI single by Cabrera.

  29. Mike A. says:

The ‘staches are a sign of team unity I take it.

  30. bostonsucks@life says:

Off topic and I know none of the kids have pitched since nam’ , but where we at with the Posada Foundation ?

  31. billyball says:

Randy, I apologze for the offensive comments and for being an internet thug as you so chillingly labeled me! It’s just this whole exchange occurred right after you posted that you were gonna kill your friend because he was a rays fan, and immediately after you called me a homeboy and put me in my place by telling me to chill. Soon thereafter I was scolded by Mike A the proctor of the class for calling you RandI instead of Randy, lol. Wow, I’m speechless but it’s so damm funny and entertaining, even though the Yankee game is not at this point. Come on boys lets score some runs. Bring up Gardner already. Get rid of Latroy. Lets make a run at this dam thing!

    • Randy says:

i’m confused. did you actually think i was gonna kill my friend or something? so because i said that you felt compelled to call me out? that’s interesting. i didn’t say he was a fan. he’s just drinking the kool aid. i’m happy you’re entertained billyball.

  32. A.D. says:

Melky’s arm saved a run there if Pettite can get out of this

  33. A.D. says:

COME ON Jeter, he’s gotta hold onto that

  34. Randy says:

why is jeter off the bag?

  35. E-ROC says:

    Did Abreu misread that ball?

  36. Randy says:

chalk that up to cap’n jetes.

  37. BigBlueAL says:

If we lose this game, it will be a pathetic loss.

  38. bostonsucks@life says:

Andy phillips is up for the reds against the phils… and a bloop single

  39. JeffG says:

Proof of a pitcher without a clue 2-0 to Young and allows a hit – c’mon Andy.
Should have thrown that way low cutter inside.

    • Ben K. says:

Did you just call Andy Pettitte a pitcher without a clue? Wow. That’s harsh.

      And the count was 0-2.

      • Jamal G. says:

Yeah, I’ve noticed the crowd has been a bit harsh tonight. Wonder what’s up?

        • Yankee1010 says:

I think it’s probably a combination of sleepwalking through yesterday’s game and an allergic reaction to the little things tonight.

I’m not worried about them in the grand scheme of things though.

      • JeffG says:

Delmond Young – Andy is a smart pitcher but Delmond is an easy out – free swinging kid… 0 -2 on him should mean out.
        Don’t mean to get down…

  40. Jamal G. says:

Good job by Andy Pettitte to get out of that inning with the tie score still intact.

  41. Jamal G. says:

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Dennys Reyes is the jolliest fellow I’ve seen in my life.

  42. BigBlueAL says:

Twins go from a fat pitcher to an even fatter pitcher.

  43. Jamal G. says:

Alex Rodriguez has been lining the ball all over the Metrodome this series, damn good to see.

  44. Jamal G. says:

Nice article on Scott Patterson and his MLB debut. He says his April struggles were due to basically a dead arm period due to his work in the Venezuelan Winter Leagues.

    http://mlb.mlb.com/news/articl.....8;c_id=nyy

  45. billyball says:

Randi, I never called you out, lol. You would know if I did. I was venting and you had to make the point to tell me to calm down right after you stated you were gonna kill your friend the Rays fan. By the way the authorities have been notified and they should be ringing your bell in 5 minutes. Make it 10. Hold on 1 sec. Where is Mike A.? I am offended by these rants from Randi. Can you please correct homegirl. Listen, I was venting that this team is too much like last years team, base to base waiting for the big hit. No speed, avg at best D. We need to make a few changes, call up Gardner, infuse some energy into this lineup. By the way all those folks who didn’t want to trade Cano straight up for Santana, how does the trade look now? Than you see this kid Casilla with speed and more range, 2 necessities for a 2nd bagger and you wonder why everyone was sooo high on Cano. I still think he will be an all star but I rather have a Pedroia right now than Cano and I am no Red Suck fan!

  46. Jamal G. says:

When Vernon Wells returns to CF for Toronto, who will be the starting LF for the Blue Jays? Will it be Kevin Mench or Brad Wilkerson (I’m assuming platoon) and how does Wilkerson’s arm rate?

  47. Jamal G. says:

If A-Rod’s left foot got down then he was safe, if not he was out.

    • Joey says:

It doesn’t look like it, but I’ll take it. Umpires are human, they make mistakes, and this time it went in the Yanks favor. It all evens out in the end

  48. BigBlueAL says:

    Great Call!!!

  49. Ben K. says:

Well, that was one pathetic AB by Chad Moeller.

    • Joey says:

Thank God (or Mo to Al) that Jorge will be back soon, but for a backup’s backup I can’t complain, especially after his other AB, and yesterday he didn’t do too bad either

      • BigBlueAL says:

LOL. Actually i think Moeller has done a better job, at least offensively, than Molina has done so far. Although Molina defensively is clearly better, although even yesterday Moeller threw out Gomez stealing.

        • Joey says:

For some reason every time I think of Molina I think of pre-DL when he was hitting very well. The worst part is I don’t know why… lol. As I said, praise Jebus that Posada will be back soon :-)

  50. BigBlueAL says:

Typical Yankees offense, 1st and 3rd 0 outs, and they BARELY scratch out 1 freakin run. Unbelievable that we only have 5 runs so far in this game.

  51. E-ROC says:

Does anyone have a prediction about Joba’s first MLB start?

  52. Jamal G. says:

Have to think Edwar Ramirez will be piggy-backing this 7th inning for Andy Pettitte with the LHBs Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau due up third and fourth, respectively.

  53. E-ROC says:

I can’t believe Moeller left that bat on his shoulders. Where’s JD CLosser?

  54. Jamal G. says:

Wait, so Mr. Gomez’s intensity has to be “appreciated” but intensity by Joba Chamberlain after he actually does something positive is deemed bush league?

    Ugh.

  55. BigBlueAL says:

    I cant believe this.

  56. Joey says:

    Damn you Joe Mauer!

  57. Jamal G. says:

This is a very peculiar game.

  58. Randy says:

    fucking ken singleton!

  59. Congrats Joe Mauer that’s your first HR of the year…at another time would be better please!

  60. billyball says:

Sorry Ben, no more comments from me! I have to say this is one frustrating team to watch. They are battling with the twins. The twinkies for goodness sake! Cano is doing nothing again, they may have to bench him and get his head right. Andy stayed in the game too long but can’t blame Joe for that. The Red Sox keep rolling with good pitching, good defense and timely hitting. Remind you of a team we once new?

  61. E-ROC says:

I predict a homerun by Jeter and all will be well.

  62. JeffG says:

ALL SENIOR CITIZENS SHOULD HAVE LIFE ALERT… that is the only commercial I like diring yankee games.

    • Joey says:

Joe Morgan and Peter Gammons would have to turn on their hearing aides to catch that one, so it’s kind of a pointless commercial ;-)

  63. Jamal G. says:

Bases loaded, nobody out in B’More with Kevin Millar up against Hideki Okajima. O’s down 3-2.

  64. Jamal G. says:

God Dammit, nice throw Mr. Cuddyer.

  65. BigBlueAL says:

This just keeps getting more and more ridiculous.

  66. E-ROC says:

    Dammit!!!!

  67. Jamal G. says:

How come when the Twins hit the ball off the baggy the ball drops straight down? Ugh.

  68. Did you know that Livan’s WHIP this game was 2.33, and he (only) gave up 5 runs!

  69. BigBlueAL says:

Not to be too dramatic, but if we lose this game, with the Blue Jays coming to NY and their pitching, this could get ugly (granted, at least we dont face Burnett or Marcum). This is a game the Yankees can not and should not lose.

  70. BigBlueAL says:

Good job Giambi getting Cano hurt on the play.

  71. E-ROC says:

Why didn’t Abreu jump?? Sarcastically speaking.

    Giambi’s throw was ridiculously terrible.

  72. ansky says:

ugh…now delmon shows up for the season?

  73. Jamal G. says:

Bases clearing 2B by Adam Jones, O’s lead BoSawx 6-3 in Bot 8th.

  74. Smitt Dog says:

    Sweet thanks Farnsworthless

  75. BigBlueAL says:

The pitching this series has been fuckin pathetic, except for of course Mo, but what else is new.

  76. NYFan50 says:

I don’t understand how Girardi can have so much faith in Farnsworth when EVERYONE ELSE can see how unreliable he is.

    • BigBlueAL says:

      Unfortunately, he has no choice.

      • NYFan50 says:

There’s a whole lot of other relievers in the pen I would trust more than him.

        • BigBlueAL says:

True, but he has no choice in terms of he has to rely on Farnsworth for the most part, he cant just stop using him because the rest of the pen is garbage, Edwar not withstanding (and obviously GOD himself).

  77. Link says:

wow I really didnt see this coming.

  78. Ben K. says:

    I mean, Edwar Ramirez?

  79. Joey says:

Ouch. Ryan Malone (Pitt Penguins) just hit with a 90+ mph slap shot (undeflected) right in the face. Got right up, skated to the bench. You think Blackburn was tough last night you should see the replay of this one (and I’m not saying Blackburn’s not tough, and I agree hockey is different, just saying)

  80. allosiah says:

    Fuck Farnsworth!!!!!!

  81. E-ROC says:

I think this is the last time Girardi uses Farnsdearth in critical situations.

  82. Jamal G. says:

Another couple of hits and a 2B for Eric Duncan tonight.

  83. I mean like FUCK IT KYLE!!

  84. Jamal G. says:

People will say that this game proves the point that Joba Chamberlain should be in the bullpen but I think it also proves the point that the starter is more important. A good start by Andy Pettitte and the Twins aren’t able to come back three separate times. A good start by Pettitte and the one run given up in the 8th inning is moot with the Yankee offense producing five runs.

    • Joey says:

people will use any chance to say Joba should be in the pen, but I think we’ve established many times those people are wrong and we should be excited for Joba tomorrow (I’m sure he is)

    • Haggs says:

      Yahoos will say that.

It proves that you should have more than one reliever in your bullpen, and it proves the people running this team could not have handled this transition worse.

They claim to have a plan. The plan gives them 2 months of baseball to find someone to handle Joba’s job (not as dominantly as Joba, but not unreliable).

Time comes for Joba to leave and they give the ball to Kyle fuckin Farnsworth. Everyone (except Girardi and Cashman) who has ever watched a Yankee game knows that Farnsworth is not capable of handling this role, yet they give him the ball anyway and hope for the best. It’s almost like the day to move Joba snuck up on them.

They should have been auditioning kids for this role while the Joba safety net was still in place.

      STUPID.

  85. E-ROC says:

Blown save for Joe Nathan, hopefully.

  86. How typical of Matsui, GIDP when we least need it. How ’bout a homer, ‘stache man?

  87. BigBlueAL says:

This game is a PERFECT example of why these Yankees are in 4th place. And not looking like that will be changing anytime soon.

  88. Joey says:

Well at least we have Joba to look forward to tomorrow :-D

  89. Jamal G. says:

Ah wells, tough loss but it’s Joba time tomorrow! BTW, why did I get the sense that some of you guys treated this game like it was something crucial?

  90. Rich says:

This team needs a shakeup of some sort. It’s not going to get better on its own.

  91. Damn you Pettitte, damn you Farnsworth, damn you Matsui. This is a game we should’ve won, and we didn’t.

    “There’s a lady who’s sure
    all that glitters is gold
    and she’s buying her stairway
    to HELL”

  92. Jamal G. says:

David Ortiz has ligament damage in his wrist, possible season-ending surgery. He is out indefinitely.

    http://bostonherald.com/sports.....position=0

    • Rich says:

I want the Sox to suck, but not to get injured.

    • Not necessarily to imply anything, but steroids are often the cause for ligament damage, particularly in the feet (and plantar fasciitis), elbows, and wrist. He had to get better magically at 27 somehow?

      • BigBlueAL says:

I dont like getting happy for injuries on other teams. But the only saving grace so far this season is the reality that the Red Sox now might struggle just to win 90 games, and assuming the Rays come down to Earth, and the rest of the AL keeps playing like crap, the Yankees might only need 90 wins or so (hell, the 2000 champs won 87) to make the playoffs. Right now thats the best thing you can say about this season so far from the Yankees perspective.

      • Joey says:

Spread it to the presses: DAVID ORTIZ TOOK STERIODS!!! (kidding btw) Don’t know anything medical, but I wouldn’t overlook it. Has MLB’s steriod testing been lax enough for people to get away with it now (I’m not talking about HGH btw)

  93. CB says:

It’s really hard to believe that after all that talk about roles on the team depending on performance and results Girardi is insisting on using Farnsworth in high leverage situations.

He has the highest home run rate in all of baseball.

There’s no reason he should be pitching over Edwar at this point. Kyle is a “veteran” and throws 95. That’s what it gets down to. Same old story.

Until Girardi stops insisting that there is a “new Kyle” he’s going to continue to hurt this team in big spots.

    • BigBlueAL says:

And you guys rip Torre for his bullpen management. NO MANAGER can manage an effective bullpen with the crap the Yankees have there aside from Mo.

    • Will says:

Agreed–not sure why Edwar wasn’t the clearly better choice in that situation (unless he was unavailable for some reason). Ben, maybe this is something you could address in your postgame? (Pleeeeeeease?)

      • Ben K. says:

Oh, that was the plan, Will. That’s the plan.

        • Will says:

Much appreciated–too many times, it seems, you’ve had to get our collective frustrations out in a postgame, but this one hurt especially bad.

      • BigBlueAL says:

I like Edwar, but the reality is he blew the lead on Saturday by givin up a HR to Cuddyer. His numbers have been great, but again, its easy putting up those numbers in basically mop-up time.

        • Ben K. says:

That was the first and only run he’s given up all season. Even if those appearances have come in relatively low-leverage appearances, he’s striking out a batter an inning, and the least they could go is give him a shot. Realistically, he can’t be much worse than Farnsworth.

  94. billyball says:

where shall we start with this loss. Let’s break it down and build it right up. The defense was shaky once again thus prolonging innings. The offense was predictable, base to base with no big hit. The relief pitching or shall I say Farnsworth was Farnsworthless-like. This is a tough team to watch.

  95. billyball says:

Rich, you said it best, this team needs changes.

  96. Jamal G. says:

LoL, Julio Franco is a terrible analyst, Karl Ravech is basically pushing him to talk. What the hell was ESPN thinking hiring him?

  97. dan says:

What else does Girardi need to see to give Edwar a shot at the 8th? As soon as that peice of shit Farnsworthless gave off the leadoff double I wanted to turn off the game, but for some reason I kept watching and my remote paid the price.

  98. Manimal says:

Has to be replaced= Damon, Hawkins, Back end of bullpen
    Good replacements=Marte, Fuentes, Holliday

    • Mike A. says:

Oh sure, why not just get Todd Helton for 1B too? You know, I think Chase Utley would be a good fit. Maybe we can get them to throw in Cole Hamels.

      • Manimal says:

I wasnt joking lol, Holliday is reportedly on the market, why not try to go after him, send them some of our pitching prospects that we have way to much of and Fuentes+Marte is old news.

      • Will says:

No way on Helton–Edwar might get lost in the goatee one day in the clubhouse. Before you know it, Helton has to shave it off, and Ramirez goes out with the bathwater.

    • Ben K. says:

With whom would you replace Johnny Damon? He’s putting up numbers better than his career averages right now and losing his bat would hurt.

      • Manimal says:

More than often he starts innings with easy groundballs/strikeouts and kills rally’s that yankees really need.

        • Ben K. says:

More often than not, every Major League Baseball player makes an out.

Damon’s hitting .293 with an OBP over .360 and a SLG over .470. It’s hard to argue with that, and those aren’t easily replaceable numbers.

        • BigBlueAL says:

Damon is the least of the Yankees problems right now.

    • Jamal G. says:

What did Johnny Damon do besides being one of the most powerful lead-off hitters in the AL with an *OPS+ of 129?

    • Sam P. says:

You don’t think Damon’s come around a bit lately?

Great points from everyone about Farnsworth. Was following online via Gameday. I can’t believe how the wheels just sort of came off for Andy once he got multiple leads late in the game … but Farnsworth was TOTALLY expected. Give Edwar a shot at the 8th. He’s got a LONG way to go before he’s blown as many games / leads as old reliable has …

How Girardi and Cashman don’t see this is beyond me. But what will be great is when the Yanks could have used a few of those games moved over to the W column when late September rolls around. Ugh.

  99. Brett says:

Farnsworth is the most reliable guy we have out there. You know he is going to give up a run. At least the rest will have a good game now and again. This game was ridiculous.

  100. McCaff says:

I just tried to trade kyle Farnsworth to my little brothers little league team for a juice box and a twinkie, but they declined it because it would make their team weaker.

  101. JeffG says:

Hate to be hard but my guess is that Joba is going to have to learn to be a starting pitcher in the Majors like the other kids on the t-shirt… Not big three yet.
If he beats Halladay tomorrow it will be a small miracle… either case I’ll be watching from the stands.

On the up side I can’t wait for Posada to get back… think about when the Redsox
lost Tek… 2005 season gone. Part of our season has been floating but we still have time. This game could have been very different with Jorge. A lot of games could have been – not only from a hitting standpoint.

Push to the All-star game lets go!

Oliver Perez getting lit up in the 1st inning vs the Giants.

  103. Jamal G. says:

All that goodwill from the Mets’ four-game series win over the Dodgers has just evaporated one out into the bottom half of the first inning. The Giants lead 4-0.

One of my other feelings on this game is that the Yanks are missing an approach to the game when it comes to hitting… Last year it seemed that the Indians had our number. The bats knew what ot do with our pitches. Wang low out of the zone… lay off etc. Matsui ball outside… you know its comming… go the other way. Can long prep these guys or something?

    • BigBlueAL says:

He prepped them pretty good last season. I do agree their approach this season has looked desperate at times, but when you consider losing ARod for over 20 games and Posada for basically the whole season, cant really complain too much. Although the offense tonight was pathetic, if you can say that about an offense that scored 5 runs on 15 hits.

      • JeffG says:

With the talent on our ball club I have no belief that Long is prepping them in any spectacular way.
I definately consider A-Rod and Posada being out… but shit I’d like to know the stats for Rod with a guy on third like tonight, 1 out and not converting… I know I’ve heard that his numbers are not that bad but considering his talent???
Anyways, Jorge will be in this week and do think that will make a huge difference… if even just for the pitching staff.

  105. A.D. says:

People need to relax with the Marte & Holliday talk, both are talented players, but the Yanks need to find out what they have with some of these young players. Obviosuly the right deal comes along go for it.

Its not a time to panick and do something rash, maybe if the team makes something happen by the trade deadline, but right now thyre not really in a playoff race, theyre trying to play well enough to be in it, which they probably will do, but until then, chill
