Sympathy for an old friend

The Yankees feel bad for Willie Randolph. While Jorge Posada understands the politics of baseball, both he and Derek Jeter praised Randolph for his baseball skills and demeanor. Based on Brian Cashman‘s statements, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Willie rejoin the Yankees in a Front Office capacity before too long.

We could hire him to be the EVPICOSJGUTHEHTATKSPFIABS.

If he indeed gets hired by the Yanks, then ladies and gentlemen, meet the future Yankee manager-in-waiting!

Yeah… he can take a picture with Chris Chambliss, Lee Mazzilli, Larry Bowa, Don Mattingly, and all the other Yankee manager-in-waitings who aren’t and won’t be managers of the Yankees.

I’d love to welcome Willie back into the fold if that happens. I’d also love to have him write a book that trashes the Wilpons, Omar Minaya, and Tony Bernazard. The Mets are a joke.

The Yankees organization, for being dubbed the Evil Empire, is just about the most sentimental organization in baseball. I would not be surprised for the Steinbrenners and Cashman to grab Willie like a mother grabs a child who has been unfairly chastized (or worse) by someone else. Codding the child while giving the interloper a horrified “Oh no you didn’t!’ look.:

Omar’s press conference was such an embarrassment to him, to the Mets, to the Met fans.
