The ‘stach! No shitting on him for a while Jamal, promise (even though you didn’t win the Harlen over/under :-) )

  2. rbizzler says:

From the Blue Jays blog Tao of Stieb after Tuesday game:

Instead of apologizing for nebulous reasons, Jason Giambi should apologize for that really stupid mustache.
That’s a really stupid mustache. We bet he goes to all the hipster bars in New York, orders up bottle service for all his hangers-on, and then points at his supposedly ironic lip hair exclaiming “Hey man! Check out my mustache!” He should really stop trying so hard to be cool, because we all know that he’s just a scared little jock douchebag who wants the world to love him again, even though he’s a fraud and a sellout. Trying that hard only reinforces it.

    Karma bitches, karma.

Wow, what a great thing to come back to: The Yanks get Cole and Giambi wins it in the 9th! I had to head off around the 7th and it was starting to look like Cole might just fall, but perfect afternoon thus far :)

  4. Ivan says:

What a day for the yankees.

  5. Bruno says:

Cole and a Giambino walk-off all in one day! X-mas in June!

  6. Alex S says:

GAME OF THE YEAR FOR THE YANKS!!!!!! UP AND DOWN NAIL BITER WITH DEFENSIVE BLUNDERS, AND EVEN BIGGER DEFENSIVE GEMS! I THOUGHT THE YANKS WERE ABOUT TO WIN IT IN THE 8TH BUT SOMEHOW THAT BALL DAMON HIT WAS CAUGHT. CAME DOWN TO THE 9TH AND THE GIAMBINO CAME THROUGH! I’M CALLIN IT NOW. THE YANKS WILL GO ON A BIG STREAK AFTER THIS WIN.

I KNOW THIS IS OLD BUT………. “PANDAMONIUM IN THE BRONX!”

    • JT says:

Stop with the proclamations of greatness after one game. Yeash, the Yankees are a bad defensive team and have no starting pitching. I’m tired of being optimistic about this team only to see them reel off 3 straight losses.

I find that it works much better when you don’t expect much.

  7. Rob says:

How bad was Sterling’s HR call? And the Wilkerson ball. The guy is just horribly disgusting at his job.

    • JT says:

Sterling is the worse announcer i’ve ever seen. He goes on and on about the same point, and has no depth perception beyound his nose.

  8. Rob D. says:

Remember a month ago when everyone hated Giambi?

    Good times.

  9. Will says:

I wonder who had the unenviable job of catching Giambi as he was leaping onto home plate–you know somebody’s walk-off joy got dampened FAST.

  10. Manimal says:

the yankees did everything in the world to lose this game but Obviously Jason Giambi begged to differ.

  11. BigBlueAL says:

As soon as Giambi came up, i kept saying “Please hang a slider to Giambi” and wouldnt u know it on an 0-2 pitch, the Giambino!!!!!!! With him and Damon absolutely raking, its gotta be the ‘stache!!!!! btw, the bullpen scares me more now than ever. the bullpen somehow managed to just give up 1 run today, but that mightve been the ugliest 4 2/3 of “effective” pitching ive ever seen. Whatever, 4 in a row at home with the Royals coming up, better at worse win 3 of 4, if not sweep that sorry team. BTW, i know everyone is excited about this Cole kid, but screw that, the big news of the day is the GIAMBINO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. mustang says:

We might look back at the end of season and say that these last two days were the turning point of the 2008 New Yankees.

  13. Chris says:

On my way home i fliupped over to the mike and the mad dog show to catch their reaction….funny stuff, mike interupts the the 20/20 thing and is like i cant beleive the yankees just won that game hahahaha

  14. Bruno says:

It’s old, but this is a good article on JOBA’s transition

  15. mustang says:

I don’t put too much into the Baseball Draft, but if those numbers that Mike put up are solid it was a hell of a day for the Yankees.

Good Luck and congrats Mr. Cole welcome to the Bronx Zoo.

  16. Ron says:

It was a great win, but it showed some serious flaws of the team, #1 being WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH WANG? Make a call to Gator if you have to, but if Wang doesn’t get back to his old self, it doesn’t bode well for an October appearance. #2, the odds of the Yankees winning any game that Hawkins and Farnsworth both appear in have to be infinitesimal. I am a Cashman supporter, but why TF can’t he trade Hawkins for a low level prospect, providing he pays his salary, which is what he will have to do when he DFAs his ass.

Q: “What’s the hardest part about being you?”
    A: “Mustache.”

  18. Pete says:

Funny how Sterling hesitated on his HR call, but I guess he didn’t want to sound like a boob if he started with the “It is HIGH, it is FAR…” nonsense if it went foul. Of course, sounding like a boob never stopped him before.

And btw, is Kim Jones going to ask Giambi the same question about the mustache EVERY time he gets a big hit in a game?

“So, the mustache isn’t going away any time soon, is it?”

    Thanks Kim, you’re awful.
