Yanks won’t talk contract with Cash ’til November

Despite the news earlier this week that the Steinbrenners and Brian Cashman were set to talk contract this week in Tampa, the Yankees and Cashman are now saying that’s not true. According to Hal Steinbrenner, Cashman was in Tampa for draft business, and the GM’s contract status was not on the agenda. The team will wait to address that issue until after the season is over.

Hank said the same thing, PeteAbe reports.

Why would the Yankees want him back? All his teams do are win and go to the playoffs every year.

    • Zack

Yeah, but he can’t judge pitching and has never had a single successful pitcher under his reign and everything he’s done is just because of what was there before and I have a complete list of people the Yanks SHOULD have drafted instead of every single guy they did. Cashman just thinks he’s smarter than everyone else. The Red Sox have owned the Yankees in every single aspect of baseball and I also have a list of all the moves Cashman SHOULD have made that the Sox made instead.

After all that, how could they want him back? Isn’t it obvious?

Yeah, definitely should have taken Josh Bard over Ian Kennedy back in 2006. I completely agree with you.

While we’re at it, definitely should have traded Hanley Ramirez for Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell. Wait, we didn’t have Hanley in our system, you say? Well, we should have gotten him from the Red Sox…somehow. I think.

Personally, I think one of Cashman’s biggest mistakes–if this can even be attributed to him–was trading Vazquez and more for Randy Johnson. I am convinced that Vazquez would have been a “poor man’s Beckett” for the Yankees, in the sense that after that terrible second half, he would have rebounded in the AL and become the top starter his peripherals (and his career with the White Sox) have always suggested he is.

I would be interested in seeing that list. Looking back and pick names off B-Ref in hindsight doesn’t make you smart. And besides, what does that have to do with Cashman anyway? He doesn’t run the draft, Damon Oppenheimer does, and before that Lin Garrett did.

Stop worrying about the Red Sox. Who gives a shit what they do. Worry about what the Yanks do.

I would also love to see that list if your going to drop a bomb like that here bring on the names.

I hate to break this news to you three, but Zack was being utterly sarcastic.

    Per PeteAbe:

The plot thickens. Game 2 of the Regional is tonight and Fullerton will be throwing Cory Arbiso, another Yankees draft pick (22nd round). That game is going to be on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. (EDT).

12-3, 4.21 ERA this year. Uninspiring peripherals.
