Wang, Milton, Kazmir Zambrano, Brackman updates

By

Such a short article, so much information. The AP has a bunch of updates on injured Yankee and non-Yankee pitchers. Eric Milton threw 35 pitches in a stimulated game today and could pitch in the minors soon. Victor Zambrano also threw in a stimulated game at the Yanks’ Minor League complex. As best I can tell, Zambrano is still a free agent working out with the Yanks and not a member of the organization yet. And finally, Andrew Brackman will throw off a mound on Thursday. He has recovered from his June 10th appendectomy.

Update 5:42 p.m. Says PeteAbe: “Chien-Ming Wang got his cast off today and X-rays revealed that his foot fracture has healed.” The Wangster is set to wear a boot for a few more days and then receive insoles. He’s Tampa-bound in a week and could be back in the Bronx by the first week of September. That would be a huge pick-me-up for the team come the last three weeks of the season.

    Zambrano, Milton= Turds

Is it out of the realm for Brackman to pitch in winter ball?

  2. jsbrendog says:

reinforcements??? better than ponson reinforcements??? most likely not

  3. Ivan says:

Who gives a fuck about Milton and Zambrano. As for Brackman, that’s positive that he’s throwing soon.

One more question? Where would the yankees system be ranked right now? top 10?

  4. Ivan says:

Also, Mark Texiera is most likely traded to the Angels.

  5. Bryan says:

Could Eric Milton see the bronx this year?

  6. E-ROC says:

Will Andrew Brackman throwing in the minors this year or next?

    • Ben K. says:

Next. The Yanks have said that Brackman, under no circumstances, will be throwing in games until 2009. I believe that covers winter ball as well.

    • Mike A. says:

Next, the minor league season ends in about 5 weeks, I doubt he’ll be ready before then. They’ve been telling him all along to focus on 2009.

  7. Joey H says:

ok now here is a question, what are the actual chances of milton and or zambrano pitching in the bigs this year, can they contribute at all?

  8. Jamal G. says:

You know what sucks, the Yankees have to face Vladimir Guerrero and Mark Teixiera with only two out of the big three (Mussina, Joba, and Pettitte) pitching. Dammit.

    • Ivan says:

Most definitely wanted Joba against that team this up comming weekend.

    • Ivan says:

Not to mention all of sudden they have a potent lineup Vlad, Tex, Hunter, Anderson is still good.

Right now with this trade they are the team to beat and the best team in baseball no?

      • Joey H says:

i still think we have a better lineup and a better bullpen than them. call me insane but i would rather have mo over krod any day of the week. k-rod has a tendency to get tattooed. ive seen him give up plenty of homeruns

        • Ivan says:

Well I think you are normal state of mind if you take Mo over K-Rod. Mo #’s trumps K-Rods easily. Persoanlly I think R-Rod is fourth or fifth best closer in the AL. I’ll take Mo, Papelbon, Nathan and Soria over K-rod right now.

Nevertheless, right now I think the Angels might be the best team in baseball.

          • Jamal G. says:

I’ve always bee of the opinion that Francisco Rodriguez is an average reliever. His walk rates are way, way too high for him to be considered anything close to elite.

          • Joey H says:

sorry i wouldnt take soria over krod thats insane. and papelbon is over rated too. hes kinda like a young billy wagner, he likes to put men on basesome times to make it interesting. he usually gives up a double ro a HR against us.

            • Ivan says:

Nah son, give me Papelbon anyday over K-Rod. People are calling him overrated because people anoited him the next big closer and Mo has out perform this year and he has had some hiccups here and there. To me Papelbon is second to Mo.

Do you watch Soria pitch? Look at Soria’s #’s. He beats K-Rod easily stats wise. People overrate K-Rod because they still think of the K-Rod that burst upon the scene. Point is, he hasn’t been as good as those pass seasons. He’s still very good though but slightly overrated.

              • Joey H says:

no papelbon is over rated because he isnt particlularly dominant. he puts guys on base in big situations like against the yankees. and i would appreciate if you didnt call me “son”

      • DP says:

Anderson sucks. He’ll end up with half of his seasons production against us. Hunter’s offense is overrated. Their lineup is good but not better than ours, Detroits, Texas, or Bostons in my opinion.

  9. E-ROC says:

The Twins are not the only club interested in LaTroy Hawkins; the Tigers have a “help wanted” sign the size of Youkilis’s cranium. Does anybody know what the Yanks could get for him from the Tigers?

  10. Joey H says:

how about the chances of the angels resigning tex this year? people swear he will be in the new stadium next year for us. do you think we can get away with signing both CC and Tex? not just one

    • Ivan says:

There’s no waythe yankees wanted to sign guys who will want 120M+. Of the two guys Sabathia might be easier to sign than Tex and the Yankees might want CC more than Tex.

    • Jamal G. says:

We don’t need no stinkin’ Mark Teixeira, especially at the price he will command.

If Hank Blalock can stay healthy I would like to see the Yankees take a flier on him for their First Base vacancy in 2009 (Texas holds a $6.2M club option for 2009, however).

BTW, that Andy LaRoche idea just looks better and better.

      • Newman says:

How much do you really think Teix will command? I’m a little surprised at how many people don’t want him. A gold glove 1B who puts up 30-35, 100-120 per year. Why’s everyone so down on giving him a lot of money? He’s clearly deserving

    • TheLastClown says:

I’d like to get a stopgap 1st basemen, preferably w/ a slick glove until Jorge warrants playing there, and then Jeter, hopefully, will finish his career after 2-3 more years @ SS.

I know Tex IS a slick fielding 1B w/ tons of offense, but then what happens to Jorge & Jeter?

Don’t know, but I doubt they’ll come through w/ Tex…kinda doubt the Angels’ll sign him either

  11. Ivan says:

Am I the only one who can’t wait for Phil Hughes to start tonight?

    • Joey H says:

yes you are. everyone else is holding their breath. same with pavano. they put him in a padded suit. im just hoping he doesnt sneeze or cough or anything.

      • Jamal G. says:

I’m not holding my breath. Phil Hughes’ injury history has been great exaggerated. If you actually check in on what his injury history actually is, you will find he’s never had anything serious happen to him in the Minor Leagues.

        • TheLastClown says:

Yeah, agreed. I’m also of the mind that Pavano’ll have something to prove, and TJ surgery seems to work so well that guys can have as much or more confidence in putting pressure on that ligament than they did pre-injury.

He’s pitching for the future, is Pavano, and so is Hughes for that matter, I think they’ll both be pleasant to watch when they return.

        • Ivan says:

Jose Reyes use to have huge injury problems early in his career and now you can easily right him up for 150+ games.

        • Joey H says:

yeah but we are the in the majors now with hughes jamal . hes had two pretty much season crushing injuries. the hammy that knocked him out for a while and the same thing with the rib now. but if you remember or if i remember right, didnt hughes do good in the ALDS against clevland?

  12. mustang says:

If the Teixeira trade is true the Angels are now the team to beat in the AL what a line-up.

    • Joey H says:

yeah what a line up it is when everyone produces. they really havent clicked on all cylinders this year

      • mustang says:

        Vladimir Guerrero and Mark Teixiera.
        Good luck if your pitching.

        • Joey H says:

Okay you are clearly infatuated with the angels. first.
Vlad isnt dominating, he doestn even have 20 homeruns yet. and he can hardly stay healthy, his knees are starting to get shot. gary matthers sucks. torii hasnt done anything spectacular. figgins has been terrible. and their catcher is horrible. so tell me how that equates to anything close to the yankees line up. …. thank you, it doesnt. two men dont make a lineup buddy especially if vlad is having a sub par year by his standards and by the standards of most

    • mustang says:

“Kotchman was pulled off the field during pregame warmups at Fenway Park on Tuesday afternoon, further fueling speculation that a deal was in place.”

      That’s a big clue.

  13. Ivan says:

People also forget Figgins and Kendrick as well.

  14. joe says:

What a poor return for texeria, seems like they gave up a lot to get him for a year

    • TheLastClown says:

Who gave up a lot? The Angels gave up Kotchman + a prospect, Stephen Marek, whom I don’t know much about. They get a huge shot in the arm for the playoff stretch & October, and if they win, they may sign him, or more accurately, he may want to sign, as he’s a Boras client.

The Braves got Kotchman rather than the two draft picks they’d get if/when he walked. Both teams made out well, I’d say.

    • Joey H says:

poor return? are we looking at the same trade. sure casey isnt exactly texiera but he will succeed. its better to get him and the prospect. probably better than any one on the market during the offseason. it was a good return.

    • mustang says:

Not even a year free agent 2009.

  15. Angel says:

Y is every1 panicing f**k every other team hunter is overrated anderson sucks they only got 2 good hitters n they r only that good cause they r in a sorry ass division the yankees r alot better angels aint shit tell them 2 bring it

  16. joe says:

The angels are loaded with good young pitching, casey and a reliever is not an ideal package for a guy with texerias ability

  17. angel says:

So u telling me that if the yankees r hitting the way they r suppose to they aren’t betterthan the angels

    • mustang says:

All I’m saying is that the Yankees are not a lot better. Have you seen their rotation?
Their closer? What’s their bench going to look like now? And they have own the Yankees and now the Red Sox. Like said NO FEAR, but it’s not going to be easy.

  18. [...] case you missed it, Ben had some injury updates earlier on Andrew Brackman, Chien-Ming Wang, and [...]
