Pettitte may miss next start

Tagged: Andy PettitteVia Mark Feinsand, southpaw Andy Pettitte has been experiencing some sort of stiffness is his throwing arm, and may not be able to make his start this Sunday in Anaheim. This probably explains why Pettitte has sucked lately. The simple solution is to stick Darrell Rasner in that spot. When it rains, it pours baby.

Lets hope the rotation doesn’t fuck up things more than it has been for the past week. To my surprise Ponson hasn’t been half bad. Rasners the problem.
The problem seems to be that we cannot keep a rotation together. It’s gotten to the point where I am just hoping Moose makes it through his start tonight.

Abreu wants a contract for next year with the yanks. I think Nady is more of a number 3 hitter and Abreu more of a number 5 hitter. Thats just me.

I think its safe to say that Girardi’s conditioning training has had a negative effect on the team. 2 quad injury’s, 2 lisfranc implosions, a blown knee and alot of arm problems.
Yeah because all of those really have ANYTHING to do with conditioning. It was mainly a deterrent against hamstring pulls and the like. Which you may remember were a big problem starting off 07. Bad luck is just bad luck.
5 of the injuries I named are lower body injury’s. Having them run like theres someone with a chainsaw behind them that early in the season has to take a toll.
How, pray tell, does that have anything to do with getting the Lisfranc fracture?

Pudge is out of the lineup as well. Atleast he fucked up the other guy more, Murphy has a strained a ligament in his knee.
Molina is Moose’s personal catcher, so maybe that’s why Pudge is out today.

Every team that wins the WS seems to have a starter or two unexpectedly get hot in the postseason, see Jeff Weaver, Jose Contreras, Derek Lowe, etc. Maybe Ponson and/or Rasner steps up their game?

if ponson keeps pitching the way he has then theres one. Geise has shown very good numbers in his spot starts and has been mostly reliable out of the bullpen so theres a good chance he will do well too. Kenendy is an unknown but we can hope because he has been good at scranton. moose is moose, and he has been amazing so no doubts there til he (if he) implodes. rasner……well…yeah…you got me there but seriously we are no more out of this then we were when our rotation was chacon, small, et all a few years ago. when you puts guys in a position to succeed there is a good chance they will rise to the occassion and outperform their projections.
and thats what will happen.
and pavano will come back and pitch 6 no hitters in a row and hit a walk off grand slam in the 17th inning of a game between no nos 4 and 5 as a ph off the bench.

ok i can get you on another point. SURE giese has been OUTSTANDING out of the bullpen. YES! but… the man who made two starts this year. one of which he pitched 6.2 innnings, gave up 3 runs, none of which earned. on four hits. then lets go to his infamous second start, WHERE he went ahead and pitched 4 innings and gave up 6 runs on 4 walks. so yo uare absolutely terribly wrong to rely on this gentleman (who i do respect) to throw a huge game as a starter. dont get me wrong i hope he puts up 7 shutout innings, but saying he has shown good numbers in spot starts is not good. total of 9 runs in 10.2 ip. NOT GOOD
unearned. as in his defense let him down. everyone has bad starts. he had two outings, one good, one bad. and has been great out of the pen. so then lets look at pettitte who ahs eben AWFUL lately. you have no faith in him?
i certainly have no faith in andy pettite if and only if he is injured. he is a crafty veteran. i do trust him. if i needed to win game 7 or game 6 of the world series i would put the ball in his spikes. and explain that other outing buddy, where he has a 13 era. you can not rely on him to come up big

hes not quite andy pettite. he throws on pitch a changeup. he glavine cant dominate lefties quite like pettite can. pettite has a great cutter, not as great as years past but its still great. and his curve.

Which is not to say that measuring grittiness is the same as valuing it.
We can hold our ground for the next couple of weeks and make a late run with a rotation of Moose, Pettite, IPK, Hughes and Joba/Giese (depending on how bad Joba is). The offense can clearly keep us going and Ponson has been decent. We might even make up ground over the next few days with Moose tonight, and IPK/Giese to follow.

boston might lose papi and their bullpen, as jerry crasnick put it, is swiss cheese. lowell has a sore hip, youkilis just got hit in the hand and has a deep cpntusion and papis wrist is iffy. take those guys out or drop them below 100% and its a race.

plus, our team isnt that bad! we can easily stay in it and pickup a few games and at least take the wild card.

SURE , they didnt even win 80 games last year, SHIT, they didnt even win 70 games, as a matter facct they have two more wins now then they did all of last year. so besides their past rich history of being a loosing team, which has no effect on the 2008 RAYS, what reason do you have to believe they will suddenly collapse? the answer is none. the second point with this colorado bullshit. the difference is, the 2008 rockies had a team age average of 27, on the other hand, our team average is 31. thats a remarkable difference considering that older players tend to wear down over the marathon of a 162 game season.

Don’t you think conditioning and sheer luck has to do with injuries in regards to older and younger players? After all, it seems to me that Joba, Hughes, Kennedy, and Wang have all been on the DL this year while Moose and Andy have been the workhorses of this staff. ok first of all joba’s injury has nothing to do with conditioning, the heat got the best of him. anyone who was ever athletic at any point in their life will agree with me. Hughes injury was a matter of not putting their foot down and stopping the rookie experiment when they found out he was injured. he just continually got pounded on his way to the DL. now to the comment on mike mussina.. over the past 4 years or so, how many times has moose been on the DL? if someone can check that for me that would be great. this year, he just hasnt gotten injured yet. and its not just injuries taht can set back someone it can be as simple as fatigue. and im horribly heart broken to know im dead to you newman
