Pettitte may miss next start
Posted by: Mike A. in Asides, Injuries. Tagged: Andy PettitteVia Mark Feinsand, southpaw Andy Pettitte has been experiencing some sort of stiffness is his throwing arm, and may not be able to make his start this Sunday in Anaheim. This probably explains why Pettitte has sucked lately. The simple solution is to stick Darrell Rasner in that spot. When it rains, it pours baby.

Wow - it’s like Boston commissioned a full set of Yankees Voodoo dolls.
Lets hope the rotation doesn’t fuck up things more than it has been for the past week. To my surprise Ponson hasn’t been half bad. Rasners the problem.
The problem seems to be that we cannot keep a rotation together. It’s gotten to the point where I am just hoping Moose makes it through his start tonight.
alright this is just getting ridiculous

Abreu wants a contract for next year with the yanks. I think Nady is more of a number 3 hitter and Abreu more of a number 5 hitter. Thats just me.
lets go offense is all i have to say….
I think its safe to say that Girardi’s conditioning training has had a negative effect on the team. 2 quad injury’s, 2 lisfranc implosions, a blown knee and alot of arm problems.
Yeah because all of those really have ANYTHING to do with conditioning. It was mainly a deterrent against hamstring pulls and the like. Which you may remember were a big problem starting off 07. Bad luck is just bad luck.
5 of the injuries I named are lower body injury’s. Having them run like theres someone with a chainsaw behind them that early in the season has to take a toll.
How, pray tell, does that have anything to do with getting the Lisfranc fracture?
or jobas arm injury, that was simply the heat.
holy shit, are you really implying that Girardi’s running program in March caused Joba’s shoulder injury in August?
please tell me you are not that stupid.
also, Bruney hurt his foot when he slipped on the wet grass covering 1B.
seriously, take this bullshit to LoHud.
jeebus. how can this many guys get hurt all at once like that. when my thoughts turn to “man, i sure hope pavano can come back soon” i have to wonder if its in the cards this year . . . .
WHAT THE $%)(#
Wang
Joba
Pettite
Hughes
That is the start of a league dominating rotation right there. Toss in a little revitalized Moose and it would be unstoppable. We should be in first right now the starting rotation has been TORTURE.
Side note, but I didn’t know who to email. Did anyone read this?

RIP Bobby and Thurman
Pudge is out of the lineup as well. Atleast he fucked up the other guy more, Murphy has a strained a ligament in his knee.
Molina is Moose’s personal catcher, so maybe that’s why Pudge is out today.
WFAN’s the girardi report says that pudge is available. but on the contrary pudge doesnt sound so skeptical. fuckin girardi is having an affair with ivan
girardi has been consistently caught in bold face lies about injuries..he is abotu as reliable as the NY media.
yea the cocksucker just said pettite is making his start sunday
Feinsand’s article said the same thing…
Forgot we got moose pitching. Thanks mike.
Pudge’s injury is probably because he followed Girardi’s conditioning program while he was in ST with the Tigers
is anyone else ready to throw in the towel? as much as it pains me to say this. but our poweroffense can not power us past opponents when darrell rasner is your number 4 starter. shit maybe even number 3. otherwords. fuck this im done
Quitter. All this adversity will make winning the World Series that much sweeter.
Mike with all due respect. i love the work you and benny put in. but how the fuck are we expected to win? we have NO ROTATION. i love this team like you cant imagine. i was up thinking last night. but .. im at a loss of words
quitter. see below post.
calling me a quitter isnt fair. im a realist. we have our rotation at moose, ponson, geise, rasner, and kennedy. tell me how you are gonna make a push at the playoffs with that rotation and i will delightfully call myself a quitter.
I was just having some fun with you.
Every team that wins the WS seems to have a starter or two unexpectedly get hot in the postseason, see Jeff Weaver, Jose Contreras, Derek Lowe, etc. Maybe Ponson and/or Rasner steps up their game?
lol, mike … if the season ended today, we wouldnt even be in the playoffs. thankfully it doesnt. but i dont feel that danny boy geise and darrell rasner will get us there.
maybe it’ll be Hughes and Joba…
well thats something i would like to see. didnt phil do a good job relieving clemens last year?
if ponson keeps pitching the way he has then theres one. Geise has shown very good numbers in his spot starts and has been mostly reliable out of the bullpen so theres a good chance he will do well too. Kenendy is an unknown but we can hope because he has been good at scranton. moose is moose, and he has been amazing so no doubts there til he (if he) implodes. rasner……well…yeah…you got me there but seriously we are no more out of this then we were when our rotation was chacon, small, et all a few years ago. when you puts guys in a position to succeed there is a good chance they will rise to the occassion and outperform their projections.
and thats what will happen.
and pavano will come back and pitch 6 no hitters in a row and hit a walk off grand slam in the 17th inning of a game between no nos 4 and 5 as a ph off the bench.
there i said it.
ok i can get you on another point. SURE giese has been OUTSTANDING out of the bullpen. YES! but… the man who made two starts this year. one of which he pitched 6.2 innnings, gave up 3 runs, none of which earned. on four hits. then lets go to his infamous second start, WHERE he went ahead and pitched 4 innings and gave up 6 runs on 4 walks. so yo uare absolutely terribly wrong to rely on this gentleman (who i do respect) to throw a huge game as a starter. dont get me wrong i hope he puts up 7 shutout innings, but saying he has shown good numbers in spot starts is not good. total of 9 runs in 10.2 ip. NOT GOOD
unearned. as in his defense let him down. everyone has bad starts. he had two outings, one good, one bad. and has been great out of the pen. so then lets look at pettitte who ahs eben AWFUL lately. you have no faith in him?
i certainly have no faith in andy pettite if and only if he is injured. he is a crafty veteran. i do trust him. if i needed to win game 7 or game 6 of the world series i would put the ball in his spikes. and explain that other outing buddy, where he has a 13 era. you can not rely on him to come up big
lol..i think we should group “crafty veteran” with “good fit” and “gritty hardnosed”
and in response to his second outing. small sample size. he will be fine.if you dont think so then don’t watch, but all this doomsday stuff is overblown.
not when hes injured he isnt. look at his days in huston when he was hurt. he was HORRIBLE
ps. tom glavine “crafty veteran” shelled by marlins in must win game for mets
hes not quite andy pettite. he throws on pitch a changeup. he glavine cant dominate lefties quite like pettite can. pettite has a great cutter, not as great as years past but its still great. and his curve.
ONE pitch*
So what would you call Moose, if not a crafty veteran?
And by the way, the boys at Saberscouting have come up with a new metric of “gritty hardnosedness” Pitches toward outs (PTO%) and I actually think it’s pretty good…
http://www.saberscouting.com/2.....on-update/
Which is not to say that measuring grittiness is the same as valuing it.
We can hold our ground for the next couple of weeks and make a late run with a rotation of Moose, Pettite, IPK, Hughes and Joba/Giese (depending on how bad Joba is). The offense can clearly keep us going and Ponson has been decent. We might even make up ground over the next few days with Moose tonight, and IPK/Giese to follow.
Seriously, who thought Moose would be the last guy standing in the rotation?
i didnt think he would be standing at all 20 games into the season
then if youre done go sit in the corner by yourself. as i said earlier, pavano, 6 straight no hitters and a walkoff grand slam in the 17th inning of a game inbetween no no 4 and 5 as a pinch hitter cause he is the only guy left on the bench.
there is always hope. tampa bay is, well, tampa bay and no matter hwo good they look kazmir got hit pretty good the other day and one losing streak could set them off…..
boston might lose papi and their bullpen, as jerry crasnick put it, is swiss cheese. lowell has a sore hip, youkilis just got hit in the hand and has a deep cpntusion and papis wrist is iffy. take those guys out or drop them below 100% and its a race.
so quit yer whinin boy.
theres one thing i DO NOT DO. and its rely on the failure of others for myself, or for my team to succeed. something you should look into
oh yes, the we can only win ourselves. of course if the other teams on front of us are chugging along at 100% then thats not a complete blow to a teams psyche. noooo of course not.
when you are in 3rd place and facing insurmountable odds and you look up and see two teams ahead of you with extreme flaws as well who afce similar adversity you go , yeah why the hell not why cant we do it if they can. and then that cna cause a team to “cowboy up” like the rockies last yr. also, if youre said 3rd place team and the two teams ahead of u have everyone healthy and are destroying ppl (ala Anaheim) you are left thinking, jesus how do we catch them without any one on our team not being on the dl.
plus, our team isnt that bad! we can easily stay in it and pickup a few games and at least take the wild card.
just a few things. i didnt even read your whole post because its nonsense. first , the rays have given us NO REASON to believe that they will collapse. SURE , they didnt even win 80 games last year, SHIT, they didnt even win 70 games, as a matter facct they have two more wins now then they did all of last year. so besides their past rich history of being a loosing team, which has no effect on the 2008 RAYS, what reason do you have to believe they will suddenly collapse? the answer is none. the second point with this colorado bullshit. the difference is, the 2008 rockies had a team age average of 27, on the other hand, our team average is 31. thats a remarkable difference considering that older players tend to wear down over the marathon of a 162 game season.
if you didnt read my entire post then you would not have even known what i said about the rockies. nobody likes a liar.
no at that point in time i didnt read it . then i went on to read it when i was done. and my argument stands validated. you dont quite know anything. you are making insane speculation. i hope everything you say is true, believe me. but the fact of the matter is you are making terrible comparisons
i dont quite know anything and i am making terrible comparisons. you obvioulsy do not understand the concept of opinion. i am finished with you now, you have devolved a conversation about differing opinions into namecalling, as I have seen you do constantly on this board and i refuse to perpetuate it. my opinions stand and have basis in reality. we have the team that can pull this off and all this doomsday stuff is overblown. go play child.
your opinions stand on a basis of reality? wasnt it you who said carl pavano is going to throw 6 no hitters? c’mon man get real. im throwing factual information at you and you do not like it. thats fair. and i didnt call you any names i called your opinions insane
obviously you don’t know what humopr or hyperbole is either. 6 no hitters is an obvious exagerration. my exagerration and humor is 10 times better than your obnoxious expletive spewing and abrasive commenting on other’s opinions
abrasive? no not quite. for example you made statements like colorados run to the WS, and i demonstrated through factual information how that was totally wrong.
Stating average team age isn’t giving factual information as to why the Rockies made the playoffs, or why the Yankees won’t be able to. It’s mind boggling how much more of an idiot you sound like in every post. You are pretty unbearable to read at this point. Thanks for making all of us dumber with your analysis and “factual information”
yea ok.how isnt it a fact? the 2007 colorado rockes were significantly younger than the 2008 new york yankees. older ball players have a higher risk to go down than a younger player. he made absolutely ridiculous comparisons in my opinion. and if im so unbearable to read, then dont read my comments. dont comment them either, if you are going to show me where i made a mistake, be my guest i love to learn, but ill be damned if im gonna have some punk sitting behind a computer calling me an idiot.
Don’t you think conditioning and sheer luck has to do with injuries in regards to older and younger players? After all, it seems to me that Joba, Hughes, Kennedy, and Wang have all been on the DL this year while Moose and Andy have been the workhorses of this staff. But I’ll be more than glad from now on to completely ignore your posts. You’re dead to me from this point on
ok first of all joba’s injury has nothing to do with conditioning, the heat got the best of him. anyone who was ever athletic at any point in their life will agree with me. Hughes injury was a matter of not putting their foot down and stopping the rookie experiment when they found out he was injured. he just continually got pounded on his way to the DL. now to the comment on mike mussina.. over the past 4 years or so, how many times has moose been on the DL? if someone can check that for me that would be great. this year, he just hasnt gotten injured yet. and its not just injuries taht can set back someone it can be as simple as fatigue. and im horribly heart broken to know im dead to you newman
Isn’t this right around the time of year where Mussina needs a short DL stint as well? This is getting to be ridiculous!
shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!1111!!1!!1!!!
Last September after the Giants were spanked by Green Bay to open the season 0-2, I sent a text message to my buddy that read simply “At least we have our Bombers”. And of course we know the Giants won 14 of 18 to close the season with a Super Bowl win. Now I’m not one for superstition, but on my way into work today I sent my buddy a message that read simply “At leat we have our Giants.”
Uh, Carl Pavano, please save us!!!!
i never thought i would agree with a statement like that, but right now i do.
Its the foreseeable peril of relying on old guys in the post-steriod/gh era
just gotta roll with it the best we can
Absolutely… but luckily Cash saw this coming and has been investing in youth. Right now we’re in a transition period.
Chase Wright, come on down…
