How can you call it a hot hand. It's 2 at bats!! Varitek had 2 hits tonight, he still sucks, will suck tomorrow, and is not a hot hand. Neither is Ransom

. . . and even bad players have hot streaks. Its fucking late August, you can ride a hot hand for a while. Everything isn't sabermetrics, you can use some common sense once in a while.

Anyway, I'm only talking about using him as a late inning def replacement anyway. You don't want Giambi's glove out there in a close game.

Actually, do yourself a favor and go through the starter's splits. Their not as bad as you'd think. Most are actually pretty good.

Damon, Jeter, Abreu, Nady, Cano all have good #s with RISP. Its (you guessed it) the #4 and #5 who have been killing us all year, especially given the guys who bat in front of them. You can't have 2 outs back to back like that in your lineup.

To be fair, A-Rod has been so so in clutch spots (.239). Below his lofty standards, but somewhat decent. Giambi has been putrid. Together, they have been killing us all year. You have to split them up. I'd put Matsui there (.338 w/RISP) myself and maintain the R-L-R stuff.

Not only a small sample size, but the 2nd smallest sample size possible. Unless you want to include the rest of his sucky career, but that wouldn't help the Cody-backers argument

Does anyone expect anything else from the media? Mike is a stand-up guy, he will not make any waves in the club house. Besides, if Pavano helps the team get to the play-offs, it's money in his pocket.
Some may not like him or some of the things that happened to him...but hay, that's life. One down 34 to go. 27/08??

Well, yeah I admit that is a stretch. But I wouldn't mind changing the dynamic of the team, unfortunately the Yankees are what they are... An old veteran team that mainly moves from base to base, scoring big runs off hrs. How many more games would we have won if we could of scored some damn runs off outs ???

This ain't his 1st rodeo, he's been figured out already. Don't think we can ride him based on 2 ab's. In 4000 minor league ab's he's at .242/.322/.426

If he was 0-2 with a K and a GIDP in those at-bats, they would be singing a much different tune.

Small sample size FTL.
