The biggest problem with both Kennedy and Hughes is the lack of stuff. Hughes is basically a 2 pitch pitcher with only a slightly above average fastball and Kennedy appears to have a slew of problems. Both have been in the minors attempting to improve their pitches. Hughes has been taught the cutter but has not looked particularly dominant lately. Hopefully the AFL will help these two. I'm assuming some combination of Sanchez, Hughes, Joba, Kennedy, Garcia are headed there. Brackman and Bleich might have an outside shot.

yes, this is the ian kennedy we all know and love... owning minor leaguers and still cant maintain a good GB/FB ratio. 4-6? seriously? the same kind of game he had tonight would have gotten him crushed in the majors.

He threw harder when he was younger. And Mariano throws in the mid 90's WITH movement and location.

<b>Hoffman the all time leader in saves tops off at 89 and has for over a decade. You neeed anymore closers who throw 89? It's not velocity its location. Mariano the best of all time throws 1 pitch, how's his career going?

I can't write Kennedy off yet. Sure he has been awful in his 40 major league innings this year. Is he a great pitcher? Of course not. Will he ever be? Probably not. However when you are 23 years old and you have established that you are already FAR too good for AAA, I can't help but think you will become a decent big league pitcher. Maybe his success will come with another organization. I predict an extended run of John Garland-esque league average performance for IPK. There's nothing wrong with that.

The fact that he NEVER will have to face a platoon disadvantage means that he can get by with subpar stuff. Nobody thinks he can be a big league closer, but perhaps he can be a 6th or 7th man out of the pen.

I'm pretty done with IPK and his minor league stats. The kid needs to mature and get tougher.
