The end of MLB.tv blackouts on the horizon
ByHere’s some good news for fans of the ever-popular MLB.tv service: Bob DuPuy, MLB’s president and CEO, wants to drastically revise the blackout rules and regulations. The current territorial restrictions were put in place long before the advent of the Internet and DirecTV, and it’s high time for an update of these draconian regulations.

wait?
MLB doing the *right* thing without being forced by strength of law or arms???
I’m stocking up on canned beans and ammo, surely the apocalypse is nigh …
If you haven’t seen it yet, Tyler Kepner is announcing that Gerrit Cole is going to college, and will not sign with the Yankees.
It is almost too depressing to come to this blog anymore.
so what do the yankees get for not signing cole now?
Awesome. Cole is going to UCLA. Anything else going to go wrong these days?
wtf ? did the yanks see this coming at all ? so we get compensation pick for our first two rounds next year …. awesome. not as awesome as signing cole.
Per ESPN, the Nationals just placed the former Attorney General on the DL with a hammy strain.

If cole is going to college it’s a huge mistake. He will not get that much more money in 3 yrs then he is getting now. Also he is 1 pitch away from blowing a shoulder or elbow and never pitching again. Why I would never want that to happen to the kid, HS pitchers should sign if they are drafted in the 1st round.
I do think that this is posturing by Boris. BA had said that he was going to sign, Damon O had told Lane at nomass that they were all still working towards signing. He didn’t seem to think that any of them was guranteed but didn’t appear too concerned.
Guys, relax. Nothing is official until Saturday at 12:00AM-EST.
Does that include those saturday afternoons that I never get in Massachusetts?
I bet this is a purposeful media leak to offset Boras. Yankees give up on Cole, look towards signing other prospects, Boras goes OK take the deal on the table. Who blinks first?
Scott Boras is not that easy.
If Cole goes to college … he’s rolling the dice BIG TIME. And that’s simply not smart. He’s been written up so much and will continue to be written up b/c of his ace stuff. That can easily BACKFIRE on him if he loses any velocity , suffers an arm injury, etc.. Its happened before!
Be smart Cole. Negotiate hard and Sign on the dotted line.
Hasn’t this happened with other prospects before? They pass on a big offer early, and each year the offer gets worse and worse.
Matt Harrington is the most infamous example of that.
