And A-Rod has had 45 at bats I guess you can't draw any comparison from that either.

Joba qualifies- I saw it on a Jim Callis chat I think you have the Innings pitched and days on roster count right.

Ellsbury is a joke. The guy plays corner outfield and is OPS-ing .675, with a whopping 21 XDH in 375 ABs. He's bascially Melky with wheels resulting in a few extra leg-hits. But he isnt playing CF and he has no arm. I think he has a negative VORP while Joba is +40 or so. (Too lazy to look it back up).

Pedroia is having a legitimate top-10 MVP year though. 10th in the league in VORP and putting up big offensive stats while play plus D up the middle.

So now I am stupid?

When a player is being touted as one of the alltime greats and constantly fails to produce in situations which win games than he isn't the player you deem nor worth the sum he is payed.

Walking and hitting meaningless singles isn't producing in these situations...while striking out and popping out are more the norm...but hey if that's what makes you guys happy than have at it..

Btw,I would be happy to meet you face to face so you can call me stupid.....then break your fucking jaw!

That is totally curious. At first, I assumed that he must have been left off because he pitched enough last year to not qualify as a rookie, but no - caps are 50 IP or 45 days on an active roster, not counting September (or the postseason). So, he slides under on both counts, as does IPK.

RotoJunkie apparently has a Weekly BlogPoll where they survey a handful of baseball blogs to see who likes whom for Cy, MVP, and RoY... and apparently, they've got some screwed up sample rates. (Sorry, most recent I could find is from 2 weeks ago...)

-------------------------------------------

A.L. MVP Voting:
 1. Ian Kinsler - 25%
 2. Josh Hamilton - 19%
 3. Milton Bradley - 15%
 4. Grady Sizemore - 13%
 5. J.D. Drew - 11%
 6. Alex Rodriguez - 6%
 7. Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau and Evan Longoria - 3%
 8. Jermaine Dye - 2%
 9. Manny Ramirez - 1%

A.L. Cy Young Voting:
 1. Cliff Lee - 45%
 2. Justin Duchscherer and Roy Halladay - 24%
 3. Daisuke Matsuzaka, Ervin Santana, and John Lackey - 2%
 4. Mariano Rivera and John Danks - 1%

A.L. Rookie of the Year Voting:
 1. Evan Longoria - 55%
 2. Jacoby Ellsbury - 15%
 3. Nick Blackburn - 13%
 4. David Murphy - 8%
 5. Greg Smith - 5%
 6. Joba Chamberlain -3%
 7. Mike Aviles and Armando Galarraga - 1%

---------------------------------------

I know they're having great offensive seasons and all, but seriously, Arlington is such a bandbox, I think Kevin Millwood strained his groin tripping over trombones and tubas in the dugout. Can we show a little perspective?

And while nobody can argue against Longoria for RoY, Jake Pillsbury is a joke. A non-funny one. 5 times as many bloggers think he's having a better season than Joba? Are you smoking? I looked back in their archives... a month ago, he was LEADING the voting. Does Peter Gammons have nothing better to do with his time than to pay IT lackeys at the Worldwide Leader to write code enabling him to generate countless dummy IP addresses and net handles to mass-vote for his favorite Crimson Hosers across the interwebs?

I'm half shocked that Varitek isn't getting votes for MVP.

Don't even bother mustang...you and I have an opinion that differs from all the others who buy into all the hype. We don't hate ARod, we have both said that ad naseum but certain people just can't get that through their thick skulls and never will.

I, and I believe you as well, wish he would produce when it counts which he doesn't. A single that keeps the inning alive is what makes him a super star in their minds and that's their right. Just as it's our right to feel a player of his stature should do more in those situations.

I believe it has been beaten to death and not worth arguing with people I usually get along with....just like that every prospect NY has is an AllStar in the making. Not one ounce of reality in any of it....

Dude, Mattingly had 24 at bats. That's nothing. That's the lifespan of a fruitfly. You can't draw any comparison from that.

Exactly Nady made sense on every single level, except the high price. Once the price obstacle disappeared, I'd think that every single opponent of the acquisition would logically end their opposition.

Joba should be getting more love in RoY voting, likely hurt by his W-L numbers and split time as a starter and bullpen. HIs VORP is #10 in the AL among all pitchers, despite laggin in innings worked. He has league-leading Ks per 9 and a miniscule HR-against rate for pitchers throwing near 100 innings. And his BABIP of .317 suggest he has been relatively unlucky.

The boy is scary good.
