Wieters is a beast. But David Price scares the piss out of me.

I don't want to go to Tampa next year and face Kazmir, Price, Garza and Shields in a four-game wraparound series. That's frightening.

And imagining a heart of the order in Baltimore of Jones/Markakis/Wieters doesn't sound fun either. God forbid the Orioles actually get some pitching... the AL East is just sick.

Sorry, I gave Angelini too much credit. He OPSed .597. I'm a glass half full kind of guy with prospects, but this guy showed NOTHING.

Jeter OPSed .770 in his first full season league (about the same as Romine this season). Angelini barely OPSed .600. There is no comparison.

Is Derek Jeter enough of a "quality big player" for you?

There are bad years and then there are the kind of years Angelini just put together. I suppose you can't completely write him off yet, but he certainly seems like a bust.

Boo hoo for Carmen. Seriously, how often does a guy suck this bad in a full season league and then turn out to be a quality big player (excluding 16 or 17 year old Dominicans that were rushed).

Its his first start in Trenton. The nerves got to him. No biggie. I think the schedule will let him pitch in either the penultimate or last game of the trenton schedule. We'll see him again. And he'll pitch at least once in the playoffs. And then we'll see in Hawaii ( i think). So his season is not over.

Good comment Hitman. ITs not easy to pick up a new pitch and make it effective. For Hughes to learn a sinker AND make it an effective pitch would take years to learn. He doesnt throw one now. And he wont throw one tomorrow.

Hughes has gotta master the basics. Its simple really if he's as good a prospect as publicized. Stay at 93 on EVERY 4-seamer. Get tailing action on that 2-seamer. Get that 12-6 break consistent. And improve that changeup as a complement to a plus FB / plus curve.

He either lives or dies in 2009 with what he's got.
