ALDS Game 3: Rays @ ChiSox

Waikiki loses in a walk-off
ALDS Game 3: Angels @ BoSox

A day after Joe Torre’s Dodgers completely housed the Cubbes and sent them packing, Ozzie Guillen looks to avoid the same fate with his Chicago team. It’s supposed to rain for another few hours in the Windy City, which is rather fitting. Carlos Pena returns to the lineup for Tampa, and feel free to use this as an open thread to talk about whatever while we wait for this one to start. (Matt Garza vs John Danks, lineups)

Thats going to be a fun series between the Dodgers & the Phils.

    I’ve got Dodgers in 6

    • Ivan

      I agree.

  • Ivan

Hey guys, who would you take:

    Garza or Danks?

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Dank. More polished, better all-around pitcher.

    • Ivan

Well Garza has the better arm, but Danks is younger and is lefthanded.

I probably go Danks but it’s close.

    • E-ROC

Didn’t Danks come over from Texas in that McCarthy trade? Kenny Williams sure lucked out in that trade.

      I’ll take Danky-doodle.

      • Ivan

Yea, Danks was part of that group called “DVD” With Danks, Volquez and Diamond being the future. Tough luck for the Rangers as Volquez and Danks has harness that potential for other teams and Diamond had TJS.

  • E-ROC

Alcides Escobar in, Rickie Weeks out.

    • Ivan

Well they could trade Hardy to get some good pieces. I mean Hardy has much more value than Weeks right now. Unless obviously, they trade Weeks and put Hardy at 2nd Base which really woulnd’t make that much sense no?

      • E-ROC

I’d keep Hardy unless the offer is too good to pass up.

  • TheLastClown

What do you guys think would be more satisfying? Seeing the Rays beat Boston in the CS, or Mr. T, Manny & crew do the job in the WS?

*2nd question, do you think Boston will be stoppable if they get past the CS?*

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Six pitch inning for Garza. I see the ChiSox have decided to pull out all the stop in this one.

  • TheLastClown

You know, I’ve always enjoyed the BooSox broadcast to a certain degree, since I watch mostly on MLB.tv & see what most teams offer as their announcers.

*see ChiSox & the taeam that’s about as exciting as watching water evaporate*

But hearing Don Orsillo without the added rub of actually seeing the Sawx, I really like him as an announcer. Harold & him are a good team I think.

Melky & IPK for Don Orsillo? I’d throw in Michael Kay but that new contract of his might sour the deal.

  • Ivan

Iwamura statistically was one of the worst fielding second basemen and he had a 96 OPS.

  • http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/profile.php?id=594331910&ref=name Jamal G.

The Giants are the best team in the NFL, ’nuff said.

    • Ivan

      Take it easy Jamal.

      • http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/profile.php?id=594331910&ref=name Jamal G.

        Who’d better?

The Cowboys? They lost to a team we bitch-slapped in Week 1. The Titans? You really think their offense can hold a candle to us?

I’ll give you the Panthers and Steelers as true competitors. But honestly, how can you really argue against the Jints being the top dog?

        • Ivan

Dude your team barely beat the Bengals, and the Giants has had a relatively weak schedule. I mean the NFC West sucks balls, and it’s not like you guys destroyed the Redskins considering it was week one.

They have played great, but seriously, they ain’t the best team in football.

          • pat

            whos better?

          • http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/profile.php?id=594331910&ref=name Jamal G.

The scores in the Redskins’ game was misleading. You look at that game again, we would have easily shut them out if not for a phantom 15-yard-face-mask penalty. I think it was called on Barry Cofield, he had a hand full of jersey. Our offense tailed off a bit after that initial drive, but we were in complete control throughout.

The Bengals game was a bit of a different story. We did struggle against a pretty bad team. I can’t argue anything against that.

Yeah, the Rams are pretty fucking horrible.

The Seahawks game more of the same. Everyone was ready to get on the Seattle bandwagon when they got Deion Branch and Bobby Engram back. What happened? The Jints’ D held them to 187-net yards, and dominated the TOP to the tune of 36:28-to-23:32.

Ivan, who can be argued over the Giants?

            • Ivan

The season just started so I gotta get better feel as he season progress. I think the steelers are better, and I think the Eagles can stand toe to toe with the Giants.

          • http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/profile.php?id=594331910&ref=name Jamal G.

Oh, and Philly can suck it. You couldn’t find a Philly fan who wasn’t pumping their chest about the Iggles before this season.

Talk to me when you get a .500 record. :P

            • Ivan

And we do have a .500 record.

              • http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/profile.php?id=594331910&ref=name Jamal G.

No you don’t. This loss pushed you to 2-3.

                • Ivan

O yea I forgot. Great, losing two games already in the division.

                • http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/profile.php?id=594331910&ref=name Jamal G.

Dude, don’t worry. This division is going to beat the hell out of each other. I will be truly surprised if a team finished with a 4-2 record in this division.

                • Jay CT

One of the best maybe. But your arguement about the Giants “bitch slapping” the Redskins in week 1 is weak. A 16-7 win can hardly be called a bitch slap, and even saying a 16-0 shutout is sad when you consider Plax went off and Jacobs was huge, and they only managed 16 points. Beating the Rams is nothing. The Seahawks are not at full stength, but even when they are, unless they are at home, they are not much of a challenge. Cincy is bad. Can you honestly say that the next matchup of Giants Redskins now that the ‘Skins understand Zorn’s offense will have the same result? I think the Giants are one of the best, but Dallas and the Redskins are right there with them. Pitt if healthy needs to be considered the favorite in the AFC.

  • Ivan

Garza K’s Thome on a 98 MPH fastball, whooo.

    • Ivan

Gameday had it at 99 MPH.

  • E-ROC

    the bitchassness of that bird.

    • http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/profile.php?id=594331910&ref=name Jamal G.

      Heh, I love that word.

      • E-ROC

        Diddy is the man.

  • Ivan

Hughes will never pan out, I mean look at Garza, another example of a failed young pitcher.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

I’m a delivery man, and I have some cream for you.

  • E-ROC

    Kick some dirt Cabrera!

  • E-ROC

Stop swinging at the first pitch, please.

  • E-ROC

    Ozzie is a litterbug

  • E-ROC

Danks didn’t walk Bartlett this time. Progress.

  • Ivan

I like Garza and his arm is terrific, but he’s sure predictable and at times is a one pitch pitcher.

  • pat

    is garza wearing earplugs?

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

      Hearing aid.

  • E-ROC

    Goodness, Uribe is horrible.

  • Ivan

Wow Uribe, a guy who can’t throw his secondary pitches for K’s and you swing at two sliders out of the K zone, you suck.

  • daneptizl

The Chargers are garbage…. Chargers D, LT, and Gates get me 14 pts total…. and now I’m gonna lose to an 0-4 team…

    • daneptizl

Then Santana gets me 0… and Plax gets suspended…

    • E-ROC

Yeah, they’re pretty terrible. I didn’t think they would miss Shawne Merriman that much, but they do. The Chargers can’t generate a pass rush to save their lives. LT doesn’t know how to play in pain. They’re a mess.

  • http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/profile.php?id=594331910&ref=name Jamal G.

That Matt Ryan-Steve Breaston trade is really paying immediate dividends. For a backup QB, I got a guy who’s given me six catches for sixty-six receiving yards so far. Since Anqaun Boldin is out indefinitely, this might be one of my best moves in either of my two leagues.

  • Ivan

Who pitches game 4 for TB?

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Sonnanstine. Edwin Jackson’s not even on the playoff roster this round.

      • Ivan

Surprise that Jackson isn’t on the roster.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Man I bet the ChiSox regret trading Danks when he struggled as a 22yr old in his first season in the league. Oh wait…

    • 27 this year

      You mean the Rangers?

      • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

No, I was being sarcastic. Danks struggled but they stuck with him, and look what they have now.

  • E-ROC

Try cleaning your cleats off jacknuts.

  • E-ROC

This mofo ain’t the only pitching. What if Danks don’t like the landing spot?

    • E-ROC

      person*

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

I really hope Garza fires a pitch right at the mascot behind the plate.

  • Ivan

    Where was that pitch?

    • http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/profile.php?id=594331910&ref=name Jamal G.

      Seriously.

  • http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/profile.php?id=594331910&ref=name Jamal G.

Cincy’s defense is stepping up against the Cowboys. Now if their offense can stay consistent, we might have a real shot of an upset here.

  • Ivan

Just watching guys like Danks and Flyod on the same team performing well, gives me great hope and anticipation for Hughes and Joba.

  • Ivan

Wow that pitch that was called K 3 looked worse than the non-call that Garza had against Thome.

  • Ivan

It seems that everybody is waiting for the Sox/Angels game uh?

  • Ivan

    Wow Evan Longoria.

  • The Honorable Congressman Mondesi

Dioner just took waaaaaay too long getting rid of that ball.

  • Ivan

    J-Up in the house.

    • daneptizl

Hopefully they interview him and he demands a trade to the Yankees. Maybe Veras can’t fetch a 2B, but he should be able to fetch him…

  • E-ROC

    Ah, that pitch was borderline.

  • E-ROC

The Unit is a really good tv show.

    • The Honorable Congressman Mondesi

      The dog barks at midnight.

  • Manimal

what a gay knuckle touch. Roger Clemens would have bit his hand off.

    • E-ROC

      Pre-, trans-, or post- steriods?

      • Manimal

Well Presumably, it was pure roid rage.

  • Ivan

No In-game thread for theother game?

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

      I just posted it.
