An AL East sweep

In their illustrious history, the Phillies have had little success in the World Series, garnering just one title in all of their years. There’s an interesting hitch to this history of title losses: The team has faced and lost to the Red Sox, Yankees, Orioles and Blue Jays in the World Series. If Tampa wins, the Phillies will become the first team to lose a World Championship to each of the current AL East teams. This historical failure would truly set the bar for a team that has 10,098 regular season losses. (Hat tip to The Big Lead)

I’ve been waiting hours to use that; thanks for the alley-oop, Ben.

  2. Well done, Ben. I’m convinced. Switch my official rooting interest from the Phillies to the Rays.

im indifferent to who wins, but this does give a slight nudge in favor of rooting for the rays… that would be a very impressive ((or unimpressive)) feat for the phils to pull off

    It’s true
In order for us to copy the success of the Rays and Bosox
here’s what we have to do————>

Get Burnett as he is Roy Halliday Jr. had more “K’s” last season…& get lefty Oliver “Ollie 4 prez” Perez

stay away from big wasted $$$ on C.C. and Teixara and Manny is just ridiculous let the Mets, Bosox snd Dodgers fight over him, do you people wan’t to repeat the mistakes we’ve made before??? over & over again????

Get rid of dead weight Giambi and cancerous Robinson Cano. I’d seriously get Orioles to the table for Markakis who reminds me alot of O’Neill and who will not resign in Balt after 2011 anyway….offer up Cano who’s a marquee name & can be a beast in Camden with @ .450 avg there and offer up Ian “Whitson” Kennedy and either CF’s Melky or Prospect Austin Jackson

Then get your CF “Nate McLouth” give up pitchers you’ll never use anyway in Marquez and Alan Horne and whatever CF you don’t trade in the “Markakis” deal if need be

then bring up your Melenchan this team fell apart after they traded Farnsworth last year and put Joba back in the PEN!

lineup should look something like this—————>

    SS Jeter R
    LF Gardner L
    3b Arod R
    DH Matsui L
    1b Nady
    RF Markakis L
    CF McLouth L
    C Posada S
    2b Ransom R

    SP Wang R
    SP Burnett R
    SP Hughes R
    SP Perez L
    SP Mussina-Pettite R/L

    RP longman – Giese-R
    RP Lefty-Coke-L
    RP Lefty-Marte-L
    RP 7th-Melenchon-R
    RP 8th-Chamberlain-R
    RP closer-Rivera-R
