Humberto Sanchez … ugh

World Series Game 2: Phils @ Rays
Davidoff: Moose probably done

Let’s do a chat tomorrow, how’s 3pm sound? Help ya get through that last few hours on a Friday. Here’s our past chats.

AzFL Peoria (13-1 loss to Phoenix)
Austin Jackson: 1 for 4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI – took a guy who throws kinda sorta hard deep
Juan Miranda: 0 for 3, 1 BB - 0 for his last 11
Humberto Sanchez: 0 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 0 BB, 0 K, 1 WP – my eyes, the goggles do nothing!!! … 16 of 26 pitches were strikes (61.5%)
Kevin Whelan: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 2-1 GB/FB - only 12 of 23 pitches were strikes (52.2%)

HWB Waikiki had a scheduled off day.

Wednesday’s Games

AzFL Peoria (16-5 win over Phoenix)
Juan Miranda: 0 for 5, 1 BB, 2 K - 16 runs & 21 hits and he takes an 0-fer? lame…

HWB Waikiki beat West Oahu 9-8, but no Yankees’ prospects played in the game. This was Jeremy Bleich‘s rotation turn, but he didn’t pitch. Not sure what that’s about. Oh, and Damon Sublett hasn’t played in over week. Hawaii hasn’t been too kind to the Yanks over the years, you may remember Mark Melancon & Chris Garcia blew out their elbows here in 2006.

Loyal reader Angel tells me that Brett Gardner will play for Toros de Este of the Dominican Winter League. He hasn’t played in a game yet.

lol. Did Sanchez start or come in relief? What is his role on the team? I hadn’t seen him in any of the DOTF this winter but I guess I hadn’t really been following that closely. Was this his first appearance?

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

He’s relieving, and this is his … uh … 3rd or 4th appearance, somewhere around there. He’s been fine so far, today he just got blasted.

    best simpsons reference ever! McBane!!!!

    • Accent Shallow

I almost bought a Radioactive Man costume today. Too bad they didn’t have Fallout Boy . . .

In keeping this Yankees-related, is it fair to see that Sanchez is seen as a reliever now, or could he get one more chance to start?

    • Rob D.

I agree…I now respect this blog about a million times more than I already did, and it’s already my favorite baseball site.

      I’m under attack by Commu-Nazis!

  • Ivan

Hey is that Rising Stars game in the AzFL on milb.com for free or showing on milb.com period.

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

No idea. It’ll definitely be on Gameday though, not sure about milb.tv. Gonna have to wait until tomorrow to find out.

  • dan

Hey, at least Sanchez didn’t walk anybody.

      Silver lining!

“Tell everyone that when the day is out we shall have a wedding. Or a hanging. Either way, we’re gonna have a lot of fun, huh?”

  • dan

I’d just like to point out that if you guys didn’t post that thing about Clemens a few days ago, it would have been about a year since a post tagged as “STEROIDS!”

    • http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/profile.php?id=594331910&ref=name Jamal G.

I’m pretty sure RAB had some posts up about the Roger Clemens-Brian McNamee hearings.

      Historical accuracy FAIL.

I was reading the date wrong. On the little blue box where the date is displayed, the month is the big number, I thought it was the date. It was posted 4/11, not 11/4.

        Date reading FTL

great! fatburger sanchez killing his trade value

    • A.D.

i doubt his trade value will change at all until he puts up innings next year.

    • http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/CRsmithT1.jpg tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Mr. Snarky Irrelevant Non Sequitur Jones

In order to “kill your trade value”, doesn’t your team have to be interested in trading you?

      Why trade Sanchez?

      • dan

exactly. Yankees aren’t trading him after watching him rehab for the better part of two seasons.

  • ben

it was just a bad day for the big guy!! lets not forget this league is usually to work on stuff!! obviously he wasnt trying to get lit up like a christmas tree but things happen..he’ll bounce back!

    • http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/CRsmithT1.jpg tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Mr. Snarky Irrelevant Non Sequitur Jones

      I think you’re right!!!!!!!!

  • Bo

I can’t believe people get worked up about results from the Arizona Fall League.

    • steve (different one)

      agreed.

let’s not forget that Eric Duncan was the MVP of the league 2 (?) years ago.

      it’s an extreme hitters environment.

if Eric Duncan can tear the cover off the ball for a few weeks, i’m not going to get upset that Hughes or Hungry Hungry Humberto had a bad outing.

    • radnom

Who exactly is getting worked up?

    • http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/CRsmithT1.jpg tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Mr. Snarky Irrelevant Non Sequitur Jones

I can’t believe how often people use the “I can’t believe people do ________” phraseology.

Must every position held by any person other than yourself be derided with shocking distaste?

  • CountryClub

Bleich doesnt follow Brackman any more. They had that power outage game and the next day he didnt pitch. He pitched the game after that. In short, there’s a pitcher in between Brackman and Bleich now.

    • A.D.

well thats good, far better than some injury concern

  • JohnC

Sanchez could be going through a dead arm period. Don’t forget he’s been going no stop for a year and a half between rehab throwing then pitching in the minors then majors. Bound to have a bump in the road somewhere following TJ surgery.

  • A.D.

Silver lining – Sanchez threw strikes, and got some work in
