Stadium concrete company indictment

By Benjamin Kabak

Testwell Laboraties, Inc., the company originally hired to provide concrete for the new Yankee Stadium, has been indicted on state racketeering charges. Concerns over the company first came to light in June when The Times revealed that Testwell officials had been arrested and that the company had not been testing their concrete. As the Yankees said then, they say now: The concrete at the new stadium has been independently tested, and everything is OK.

Wait, Testwell did something dishonest? I don’t believe this. What’s next, a Sox fan will think Pedroia is the MVP?

The Honorable Congressman Mondesi says:

Poor Testwell. Never recovered from the stigma they acquired by inadvertantly giving the mayorship to Giuliani after the great FroYo debacle of 1993.

Meh, I think the horrible advice Lloyd Braun was giving to Mayor Dinkins was the real culprit in that election.

Actually, just a quick correction. Testwell doesn’t provide the concrete, they just test it.

TomG says:

This is correct, all a testing company like Testwell does is show up on site when the concrete is being poured, fill some cylinders with concrete, and take them to their lab to measure the weight required to crush the cylinders. This is kind of a scary place to find corruption, especially if the concrete contractors were the ones paying them off.

Actually, that’s precisely what you mean to do.

Mike Pop says:

He deserves to pat himself on the back after that find
