Yeah, he also shoved a 67 year old employee of the Red Sox to the ground because the guy couldn't comp him 25 tickets for is buddies in Houston that were in the same section.

Yeah, what a fun-loving free spirit. I'm sure that's what you'd be thinking if that was your dad he shoved.

I hear about dumb comments that I’ve made about Cashman wanting Guerrero and Beltran in the past and that George stepped in and got Sheffield and Damon instead. I don’t buy it - and the reason I don’t buy it is George’s history prior to these deals and Cashman, Hank’s and Hal’s tendencies since.

You really want George's history prior to these deals?
Here's what you need to know, in a nutshell: He demanded the trading of Bernie Williams in the early 90's, was mad as hell over the Roberto Kelly for Paul O'Neill trade, and later demanded the trading of Andy Pettitte during the 1998 season.

When he returned from his suspension, he said publically about Gene Michael, "He's ruined my team!"

Anything else you'd like to contribute on George's history of building championships?

Wow, imagine that!

So not only did the Yankees give AROD about 28 mill a year to rake at the plate, but now they must sign a guy who wants about 25 mill a year to basically act as an on-the-team psychologist to make him feel relaxed at the plate.

So it costs the Yankees over 50 mill a year to get top production from Alex Rodriquez. What a bargain.

"If the Yankees sign Manny then I truly have no idea what direction this organization is going."

Same direction they were headed for in the 80's. Right to the top of the draft order.

Right......that's the same "George" that drove the Yankees into the ground by the early 90's, only to be rescued by Gene Michael and Buck Showalter through methodical interior building and trades for certain players who fit into what they wanted to do.

And now you're going to pretend that a Manny Ramirez signing ISN'T something George Steinbrenner used to do? C'mon.

You sign him and then regret that signing for the rest of your life. He gives you a righty power bat, but everything else is off the charts negative.

You know what's really, really off the charts negative? Those two rings Manny won. While OPSing like 1100.

That sucked.

I don't buy it - and the reason I don't buy it is George's history prior to these deals and Cashman, Hank's and Hal's tendencies since. George was always willing to give out the long contract to get the big guy. Why would he suddenly stop. I'm hearing ugly rumors this winter that Cashman, Hal and Hank don't want to go the years to get Sabbathia and Teixeira. That behavior would be consistent with them calling the shots on the Guerrero and Beltran passes and not George. George was probably well on his decline when those non-deals happened, it just wasn't public yet. We'll see this winter. If Cashman, Hal and Hank opt for old guys at short years rather than young guys you can build a winner around, then I'm right and the Yankees, unfortunately, are doomed

I'm not a stat. man, but I don't think that's good.

"You exhibit some unknown blind hatred of A-Rod and willful ignorance of his positive impact on the team."

No hated at all read above.

"This I would love to hear because it’s practically factually impossible to make the argument that the Yanks missed the playoffs because of A-Rod. "

The whole month of August if I remember right their 4th and 5th spots couldn't hit them out of a bag with RISP in August. And how many DP did A-Rod hit into in August?
It wasn't all him, but he didn't help.

"hopefully he has one of those years in 2009 like he had in 2007 when he avoids a major slump. when he does that, he wins MVPs."

I'm with you on that from your mouth to God's ears.
