Put hughes in triple a to start and let him build more confidence and refine his pitches. Bring him up for injury or late in the season. He was great in the playoffs in 2007. use him in the bullpen if need be. As we have all learned yoy can never have too many arms.

There are a lot of questions that the Red Sox have too.

-Who is their catcher?
-Can Beckett stay healthy?
-Can Ortiz stay healthy? Is he ever going to be as big of an impact player as he has was?
-Can Lowell stay healthy?
-Can Drew stay healthy?
-Can Pedroia and Youk repeat their career years?
-Can Lowrie make hitting adjustments or does he go through a sophomore slump?
-Can DiceK have as good of a year as he did in 2008?
-Who are their back end starters?
-Is Ellsbury worthy of the starting CF job?

We can play that game for any team. Like you said, at least our issues are much less urgent now.

Totally right, the fans that are already celebrating the World Series are a little over the top. Too many questions on an old team. It's much better than it was but a lot of work needs to be done.

I can think of a lot of questions for next year that will affect the roster. Will Posada be able to throw runners out? Who is the backup infielder? Will Matsui be able to play the field and will he be able to generate any power with two bad knees and creaky wrist? Was last year a fluke for Nady? Is Swisher finished as a useful big league hitter? Can Gardner hit major league pitching? Is Cabrera as bad as he looked last year at the plate? Who's the fifth starter? These questions are a hell of a lot less urgent now that Sabathia, Burnett and Teixeira are on board. The Yankees have the luxury of going thru the spring and part of the season finding out the answers without having to worry that they'll drop out of the bottom of the league if they don't. Hopefully, the farm system will have developed in a couple of years where there will be answers available in the minors. Right now there aren't any.
