Padres sign Britton
ByThe Padres sure love the Yankees cast-offs. They nabbed Scott Patterson when we placed him on waivers. They selected Ian Nova in the Rule 5 draft, someone no one thought a possibility. Now they’ve grabbed yet another Yankee reliever: Chris Britton. The Friars have inked the hefty righty to a minor league deal. As with Patterson, I wish Britton the best of luck and hope he doesn’t spend the year traveling between the majors and minors. That might not be much of an issue now, as he’s out of options.

Yanks just saved a couple dimes on clubhouse buffet service . Good luck Britton.
They didn’t save anything – did you see who they signed a couple weeks ago? I mean, he’s sort of hard to miss.
i always though britton had the potential to be a legit 8th inning guy. the padres cant do much right, but they do a nice job of assembling a cheap, reasonably effective pen. i bet britton makes a name for himself out there. then the yankees can hand him a bloated three year contract as a free agent, then ship him off after the first season.
Had to use the word “bloated” huh?
didnt they take sean henn too?
They did last year, pitched horribly and then they released him. He signed with the Twins recently.
How could I forget about Henn?
And how did you forget about Mike Gardner?
And how could you forget their putting in a waiver claim on Igawa 2 years ago?
Every all you can eat buffet owner in the greater San Diego area is scared
‘Tis no man…’tis a remorseless eating machine.
What a cruel twist of fate. Just when we got a bigger clubhouse.
Anyone know if Rubio’s Tex-Mex listed on the NASDAQ?
I enjoyed this post.
Ticker RUBO
I think it’s funny that Britton’s spot in the majors will probably be blocked by Nova, or that Nova’s path back to the Yankess will be paved by Britton.

Hopefully someday they will both get the cookie.
That was cruel.
Yeah you’re right.
Joe, Ben, or Mike please remove if you wish.

Do not forget they also picked up Sean Henn last year as well
I would believe in Chris Britton if he cared about his health, shape and profession.
His stuff is good, but I can not respect a guy who just needs to eat right and workout to make a minimum of hundreds of thousands of dollars and in the long run millions plus the best pension plan in the USA if not the world.
Dude just stop eating all the time and you are GOOD. The Pads need somebody cheap and semi effective and you are on the roster ALL year.
If this guy comes into camp fat again hes a big dummy.
