I know it's a higher AAV, but remember that this is a dude who turns 32 in a month and was constantly injured. If I'm Burnett, it's going to take more than a 1M or 2M bump in AAV to convince me to lop off a year on what is probably my last big contract. My main goal is probably to get the total dollar value of the contract to be as big as possible, so I'm more willing to take a lower AAV for a 5 year deal than a higher AAV for a 3 year deal. I doubt AJ would be interested in a 3/51 over a 4/64 (or even a 4/60). I know it’s a higher AAV, but remember that this is a dude who turns 32 in a month and was constantly injured.
